  Extremely Small Rooms

  Good hotel accommodation in Port Harcourt is at a premium and unless you have the good fortune (and expense account) to stay at one of the more salubrious hotels Le Meridian, Novotel - you have to plumb for the local lodgings. I have stayed at a couple and one of them was the Claridon. The reception staff are amiable, helpful and friendly enough. There is a small pool in the centre of the block and a small bar adjacent to it and which is situated within the hotels only restaurant. The hotel stands on a main road (cant remember the name) and is gated with 24 hour security. There is free wifi internet and all rooms have TVs. I have to say that the TVs are really very small and TV reception when I was there was very poor. The rooms? Well, what can I say other than you couldnt swing the proverbial cat in them. Just enough room to negotiate yourself along the sides and end but not enough room to wheel a trolley case between. I was informed, however, that it is the smoking rooms that are small !!! The food in the hotel isnt all that appetizing and it all seemed to be very cold. I stayed at the Claridon for one night and then high tailed it to the Genesis Place where I could swing my cat!

  Nice spot

  Had a splendid stay.... everyfin and everyone seem superb.. the rooms were very clean.... d buffet was quite tasty and very cheap... i love d little pool... d 24hrs security also was quite reassuring.. i jst had a good time and i slept like it was home

  Untrained staff

  I spent two days in Claridon,Port-Harcourt.As i got down from the cab,i found myself facing two doors;with no exit or entrance sign to tell which was which,i opened the door nearest to me and walked in,with my driver at my heels....only to be informed in a very rude and belligerent manner by the security lady sitted inside that 'that door' was for exit not entrance!I apologized and made my way to the front desk where I protested the rudeness to the courteous lady there,she apologized. Meanwhile my driver who had brought in my luggage(Claridon porters apparently had better things to do than bring in guests luggage!) was rudely turned back and made to go outside again,then take the right door! Aside from the front desk staff who are professional and amiable,the rest of the staff i encountered(room service,security,porters)were all sullen,insolent and unfriendly,I ate dinner twice and both meals were overpriced and not worth it. The room was spacious and clean however,for me this is the only plus.Bathroom was cramped but it did have toiletries and all the amenities.

  Clean and Safe

  I unexpectedly moved to this hotel from the Novotel where I was given a smelly room. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the service at Claridon. The rooms are small but very clean. Staff is helpful and the place is safe. I would return without hesitation.

  I Always Stay at the Claridon When I'm in Port Harcourt!

  As an American entrepreneur who travels extensively throughout Africa, in particular Nigeria, I'm always looking for a nice, clean hotel with affordable, reasonable rates. The Claridon in Port Harcourt is such a value. Raul, the general manager, is always a pleasure to see, the hotel staff I have gotten to know extremely well as I have stayed at the Claridon on a number of occasions over the past year, and they always take good care of me,' In addition, the rooms have always been nice and clean, and they have a very nice restaurant with food buffet and a small, but nicely designed pool area that has always been clean and spotless each time I have visited. I not only stay at the Claridon whenever I am in Port Harcourt, but use their meeting room facilities as well. If you are looking for nice hotel with affordable rates, I highly recommend the Claridon hotel. Tell Raul or the front desk that I recommended you stay there.
