I am not going to rush back to the Creta Beach!I booked a trip to Crete at the last minute due to the ever changing restrictions around quarantine. This was a solo trip and due to availability but probably should have chosen another resort. I am a seasoned global traveler who has visited many resorts and hotels and it just left a little to be desired. Reception & Hotel Arrival: Upon arrival, the front desk staff were very welcoming they even offered me an "upgrade" to a room closer to the pool and beach which was appreciated as I was a solo traveller. There was an extra charge for a key to the safe which I thought was a bit of a money grab but it wasn't expensive so I didn't mind too much. Upon arrival you are given a bag with a bottle of sparkling water, still water and a lemonade. Accommodation: Very basic but the rooms were a nice size. It was nice to have an outdoor space with chairs and a table. Great shower pressure which was ace! There was no hairdryer upon arrival but I requested one from the front desk and they delivered. It was after the 2nd day that I realised that I didn't have any blankets, only sheets provided. I had to request those as well as at night it got chilly in the room with the air con. There was a fridge in the room. Pool and beach: Lovely and in close proximity to the hotel and kept well. There was social distancing observed by the pool with every second umbrella marked as a no-go. There was never a challenge getting a bed on either the beach or by the pool. Food & Beverage: What can I say except it wasn't great. I didn't manage to get a reservation at the a-la-carte but the buffet left much to be desired. Although there was salad everyday the main meals were very fatty and not very appealing. Would be been nice for some of the lunches to even have the option for a sandwich. I didn't find a whole lot of variety and often left much on the plate. Upside is that i lost a few pounds on this holiday. The safety measures with all meals being served from behind a pane of glass was appreciated. House wine was decent! Hotel Bar: Is open in the evenings but it was fairly quiet. The bar staff were absolute dolls and friendly. Probably the friendliest staff I came across in the resort. Downside is that any proper cocktails with premium liquor were extra but not too expensive. I splurged most evenings for a few. These guys knew how to make a mean cocktail so it was worth the money. Thank you Vasalius, Marios and team! Pool Bar: Only standard local spirits and they had fruit, salad, pizza and cake throughout the day. Again, I wished that they'd had a bbq set-up or something along those lines so you could get proper food by the pool as I spent a lot of time there. Staff were friendly! There was no bar or service on the beach which was a bit annoying but not a deal breaker. Staff F&B: They were friendly and helpful overall but there never seemed to be enough to run the buffet and the bars. There was a lot of time spent waiting in line which especially at meal times made it challenging to distance in the restaurant. Entertainment Staff: There were a lot of fun activities during the day especially for the kiddies and they seemed to enjoy. Being on my own they didn't really approach me apart from the lovely Anna that really made the effort - THANK YOU for being so lovely. WiFi: Only able to access websites and social media so no streaming. Make sure that you bulk up on your mobile plan if you want to watch in the evenings. There wasn't a store on-site so although it wasn't far I made a daily trip to the shop to pick up things like water and snacks as nothing was available at the resort. Bottled water was extra and I understand due to the environment but if you didn't stock up and were thirty in the middle of the night then you were out of luck. Top tip - make sure you stock up on beverages as there are no cans or bottles available on-site unless you pay for water at the bar. When you visit Crete make sure you go into town where there are some great restaurants and outdoor patios. I had one of the best sea bass dishes i've ever had. Also, I spent a day diving and although there isn't much to see in Crete by way of fishies it was a lot of fun and the diving schools are happy to pick you up and drop you off. All and all it was a great break but wish that i'd ventured to another resort as I was on my solo mission. That being said, families with seemed to love it as there was a lot of activities for them.

Amazing holidays in Civitel Creta BeachCivitel Creta Beach is a good quality resort in Crete, with amazing garden and bungalows, so you feel really free in that beautiful area. The other great advantage is the service - all the staff people are seriously happy and helpful, always smiling and sometimes making jokes with guests, speaking English, German and French. While being just in the "covid time" (August 2020), all the buffets were over the glass and you ask the staff for the meal - it is good and safe option. Food is seriously delicious, fresh and there are a lot of choices. You can even have a small lunch in the swimming pool area (you don't have to dress up for that :)) When staying for 1 week, you can have one free served dinner in the restaurant - great option! In the all inclusive option you can grab free drinks made on local alcohol from VERY friendly bar staff. House wine is really "Greek", for me it was very good. Our room in the bungalow was refurbished, big enough, very quiet and private, good equipped, always very clean. Maybe, the bed could be not as much hard... The beach is just a few steps from your room and it is really nice, sandy and safe with free sunbeds and umbrellas. The resort is situated few km from the HER airport, you can even take a direct public bus for 1,5 Euro (30-40 mins drive). Many shops and tavernas around. What could we recommend to improve are: - do not allow to smoke during the meals, while in the covid time it is good to have a chance to eat outside on the terrace, sometimes you feel the cigarettes smoke from other tables.. - when we arrived and the resort was not full it was not a problem, but when there were more guests, in the peak time, we had to wait sometimes even 10min for the buffet meals... just not enough staff for the buffets... - and please, clean the windows on the terrace to give more positive emotions from watching the beautiful sea while eating :) Thank you for your smile, upgrading our bungalow and for amazing holidays in Crete!

Relaxing HolidaysWe enjoyed our stay at one of the bungalows at Civitel Creta Beach. The hotels location is perfect for excursions to all parts of the island. A bus stop is right in front of it. The pool close to the beach is very convenient - as is the poolbar that allows to get a gelato or something to drink. The personel is super nice, we especially want to praise the work of the Maître de Restaurant Sofoklis and of Anna of the Animation Team. We enjoyed the level of animation: It was never too loud and animation was not that big. In principle, the restaurant offers buffet style food but due to Covid-19, the restaurant staff arrange the plates behind plexiglass and hand them over to the guests. The food is tasty and abundant, we would have wished for more Greek style dishes though and less international ones. The only annoying thing was that many guests reserved a sunbed by the pool or at the beach with their towels in early morning even though its not allowed. At the reception, staff were very nice but not always helpful as we often heard come back tomorrow.
