  Great hotel

  So glad to have stayed in the city. Im from Chicago but moved out to the burbs a couple years ago. I came to celebrate my birthday in the city. This hotel was perfect for my stay. And the rates are great. The staff was super friendly Magy checked me in and answered any questions or concerns that I had. Very friendly and cute girl. Stephanie provided me with anything I needed and helped me look for my missing necklace in the room with me. Aimme and the rest of the staff are on top of following the covid guidelines and providing a safe environment for all who stay. I had the warmest of welcomes and am definitely looking forward to my next stay at the city suites hotel. :)

  Needs updating and Maintenance

  We have stayed at this hotel numerous times and have noticed a steady decline in the property and surrounding area. Our room had tissue stuck into a large gap behind the bathroom sink. The temperature in the room was uncontrollable. It was either too hot or too cold. We were under the impression there would be no housekeeping during our stay. but the room was entered and cleaned after our first night. Twiice, going into the hotel we were accosted by rather aggressive homeless people who swore at us and were quite aggressive. We didn't feel safe here. They no longer offer any kind of breakfast or breakfast voucher even though other hotels have managed to find a way to do this during covid. So you can go out for your morning coffee and be accosted by street people. Not ideal by any means. It was convenient to where we needed to be but we don't plan on staying here again. They need to update the rooms, get some security, and figure out a breakfast option.

  Perfect Location

  I travel to Chicago regularly to see a specialist. City Suites Hotel is so conveniently located. It is clean and comfortable. I find staff to be very helpful and accommodating. I will continue to stay here regularly.

  Some Good, Some Bad

  Im a Chicago resident who ended up at the hotel because Im an essential worker that was getting the COVID vaccine at a clinic nearby. My job involves traveling and due to a snow storm I couldnt make it to my house or move my car out of the garage and I needed to be in walking distance of the clinic. The Good: Room was super cute and boutiquey. I was in a king suite and I liked all the local Chicago artwork around the room. Bathroom was warm and cozy. The sitting area was nice to avoid an issue found in many hotels - being forced to lay in bed when watching the tv. The bed was quite comfortable. I saw someone complain about the temperature in the room but mine was always perfect. Location next to the Belmont Red Line would be ideal in non-COVID times for access to the city and its also nicely situated between Wrigleyville and Lakeview. The Bad: COVID precautions by staff were not good. Over my stay I interacted with 3 different employees at the desk - only one wore a mask. The check in counter has medium-height plastic partitions which provide some protection but are not sufficient for the space. I wear a mask for 14 hours a day at work - you can put one on for 1 min when a guest approaches folks. The two women in the afternoon were both very nice to me (despite one not wearing a mask) but the man who checked me in the evening I arrived barely spoke 5 words to me. Extremely uninterested in his job and me as a guest - threw my key card on the counter and went back to his phone. Felt very unwelcomed and as cabin crew for an airline Ive stayed at literally hundreds of hotels around the US and world. He was Bottom 5 worst hotel staff Ive ever encountered. In terms of the room the walls were quite thin - I could hear crystal clear the television in the next room. They didnt even have the volume up very loud but I knew exactly what show they were watching. Also the floor I stayed on smelled of cigarettes and marijuana. The hallway had the faint scent of it and during the evening the smell increased. Chicago is one of those cities where 90% of hotels are in one area and the choices outside of the area are limited, so there isnt much choice if you want to be in this area. Its got potential but definitely needs updated soundproofing, some customer service retraining for employees, and to put on some masks till the pandemic is over.

  great location, just steps from Metro Station with elevator. front desk security box, ice available. Best comfort beds. Cleanliness very good. Friendly helpful staff Close to good reasonable restaurants, gay neighborhood
