    Perfect Cozy B&B

Stayed here with my son for a concert in the 02 guildhall to see Gsry Numsn. Perfect Very friendly and helpful, especially with local knowledge of the local pubs, thanks Andy. The breakfast was perfect and just right. Cozy and comfortable. The perfect B&B as we all know.

    Where is Christine

I have stayed here several times. In the past I have received excellent service from Christine. She is such a friendly person. She ran the business very well on the behalf of the owner. This visit was very poor. The atmosphere was awful. Instead of a warm friendly and homely feel I felt that I should of stayed in a boring clinical hotel. I wont be going back

    Never Again

I have read many of the reviews since our stay at City Park. Many indicated the rating as 8.5 out of 10. I dont understand how the Reviewers came to that type of rating. Yes the place is relatively clean. Yes the breakfast was good and yes the young lady in the morning was pleasant and the location is central. HOWEVER the room We had #4 was extremely small and made it impossible for 2 people to move around. The towels provided were terrible and should have been tossed away years ago. The thing that bothered me the most is a safety issue. The doors to the room do not have door handles on either the outside or inside of the door. On the inside There is an old lock that requires two hands to open it. In the case of an emergency Im not sure if you would be able to open it. To get into The room is not difficult. However to close the door when leaving without a handle meant that you needed to insert the key and pull the door shut using the key as the door handle. What a pain. We have stayed in other hotels close by the City Park and given the nightly rate being charged by City Park it pales in comparison to the other locations. I know that we will be returning to Southampton in the future but I will Never stay at City Park again.

The Little Room That Maintenance Forgot

We decided to stay in Southampton for one night before boarding a cruise and chose the City Park Guest House primarily because of its location (the guest houses rated as Excellent were further out of the centre. We opted for a double room and were given room 10, on the first floor, which was impeccably clean, but very small (or bijouette) to say the least. This room would probably be better suited for single occupancy, rather than two people as, if they had been of larger build than us, they may have had problems manoeuvring around the space. The room itself was in need of maintenance. The floor at the end of the bed sloped downwards (not their fault, obviously structural, but a little disconcerting when you feel like youre falling down the floor!). There were also many empty screw holes, where things like bedside lights (there was only one ceiling light) and hooks obviously used to be and when I tried to pull out one of the drawers in one of the two tall bedside cabinets-cum-wardrobes, the front literally came off in my hand. The ensuite bathroom was also compact (we may have been better off paying less for a non-suite room with the big shared bathroom down the corridor, which looked good). Again, there were screw holes at the back of the bathroom door, where presumably towel hooks had once been, meaning that we either had to put our towels over the doorknob or over the rail of the shower cabinet. The toilet paper dispenser was loose on the wall too, and nearly came off when toilet paper was pulled out, hanging lopsidedly by one screw when we left. The glass shelf above the sink was loose and sloped forward, the miniature tubes of shower gel and shampoo had been used and the little sink itself had a well at the back of it with no drainage, so any water that landed there, stayed there. While it was not the worst room weve ever stayed in (dont ask!), it was certainly not the best and could do with some well needed maintenance. The room was quiet (apart from the occasional siren outside) and we had a good nights sleep. The service was friendly, efficient and very helpful and the breakfast was tasty, freshly cooked and well presented. Are useful, central Southampton location and OK value for the price tag.
