  Location is good

  The hotel location is good and just opposite 2 seafood restaurant. The room is clean and staff are friendly. Morning time you can take a short walk to 101 Breadfast which located at the back of seafood restaurant to have your morning breadfast. Nothings must to shop in the near by area.

  A decent hotel

  I booked a Standard Double Room inclusive of breakfast for 1 night stay. The hotel is located approximately 31km away from Tawau Airport but Grab Taxi service was easily available, traveling between hotel and airport was not an issue for me. The hotel is smaller than its look in the photos. The check-in process was quick and no deposit was required. Upon check-in, then only I realized that the hotel doesn't offer buffet breakfast. Instead, guests will only be served with a very simple breakfast, nasi lemak and something else (I can't remember what was it). Anyway, one of the receptionist speaks very good English. The room was small but clean. Its air-cond was cold. The mattress and pillows were soft and comfortable to sleep. There was a fixed side table on the left hand side of the bed. A power point is available for you charge your phone and laptop. There is a TV in the room with quite many channels. The room was provided with 2 bottles of drinking water. A water dispenser is also available at the ground floor of the hotel. Although a kettle and 2 cups were provided in the room, they were dirty (see the photo). The next day morning, when I went down to the ground floor to get hot water, a lady who looked like the manager of the hotel questioned me unhappily why I used the water dispenser since a kettle was already provided inside the room. The first good impression created by the friendly staff who helped me to check-in the hotel was spoiled immediately because of the attitude of this lady. The bathroom is divided into two areas: shower area + sink and toilet area. The bathroom was considered clean. An almost complete set of toiletries were provided which includes soap, bath gel, razor, toothbrush and toothpaste. Although two towels were provided, I didn't use them. The shower pressure was good and the water was really hot. I enjoyed my shower a lot! In overall, I'm still satisfied with the service and room provided by the hotel (definitely not from the lady mentioned-above). If I have a chance to visit Tawau again, I may consider to stay at this hotel again.

  Transit before flew back

  We stayed here one night before we catch our flight back to KLIA2. Near to Pasar Tawau where you can get local snacks and dried seafood. Price is half then peninsular Malaysia. And many eateries nearby to choose from. Breakfast is sent to your room. They sent us scrumptious Nasi Kuning. If you dont feel like having Nasi Kuning, you can walk to open air eateries just a stone throw away from the hotel. And you can also walk to the nearby convenient store. Room is clean. Bed are comfy. Pillow and towels are fluffy. Water pressure are good.:-)

  Decent hotel at a fair price

  City Garden Hotel is in a good location south of the main hotel district. It is close to the ocean and this the seafood markets. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the price was fair. Breakfast delivered to your room was a nice touch as well.
