IF YOU LIKE TO STAY IN A PLACE WHERE THERE IS MICE THEN GOOD LUCK!!!

TERRIBLE!!!! I have stayed in alot of hotels in Ilford area which top this one for a 2 star, Cranbrook Hotel, Park Hotel, Rotana and so many others but really shocked that this is sometimes based at the same price as the others and was AWFUL!!! The room was dusty!!! The bathroom smelt damp, my partner wasn't happy but we didn't want to ruin our moods by complaining as it would have ruined our trip in London so in this case it's easier to put my thoughts in a review. When my partner opened the room door to go to get something from the car I saw a small field mouse running across the corridor and under the carpetting on the stairs, the carpets are so old, dusty and have MICE living in the floorboards clearly which means the hotel IS NOT CLEAN!!!! The matresses clearly need to be chucked out and have new ones in because I had a strange insect bite on my leg which after a few days had a white tip and I had to squeeze this infection out (most likely a spider bite)!!! I am actually surpised at myself for keeping this quiet and not going back to the hotel to make a scene as I definetly wanted to but at the same time do not want to show my anger to the Reception staff as it is not fair on them but whoever the owner is needs to sort the place out because money is being made from the rooms but CORNERS ARE BEING CUT!!!!! The breakfast took ages to be topped up so clearly they need more than 2 people in the kitchen and it wasn't even all that... Cranbrook Hotel in Ilford is 2 star the same as City Best Hotel and their rooms are at least CLEAN and their breakfast is much better with alot more choices too! I HAVE NAMED AND SHAMED THIS PLACE ON BOOKING.COM REVIEWS ALREADY, I CAN'T EXPLAIN HOW DISGUSTING THIS WAS!!!!!

    Invasion of privacy

I booked this hotel for myself, my husband and my son when we needed somewhere to stay for a weekend in London. I looked around various different websites at lots of different hotels but eventually found this one for £155 for two nights. From the photos it look ok and I did not have the time or money to be overly picky about where we would stay. So I booked it up, we arrived and I will never return again! The hotel is very tired and dated - even the sign outside and the carpets look like they have given up. The rooms are basic but have enough space to potter around. We booked a family room so had a twin and single bed. There is a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. There was a wardrobe but it had no pole in it and looked like it would collapse if touched. There are Windows but they look like they would fall out if you open them. The beds are uncomfortable and the bathroom had a smell reminiscent of a blocked drain. But despite lol of this, knowing that I hadn't booked The Ritz and I could not expect everything, we attempted to make a good weekend of it. The first night was fine, we slept ok but there is a lot of noise that comes through the single glazed Windows. It was the second night which not only shocked me but left me feeling angry. My husband, son and I had been out at a convention all day and were knackered when we got back to the hotel. We took back some food and wine and laid watching TV. My son and I fell asleep around half past nine leaving my husband awake watching TV. In the early hours of the morning, a man arrived at the door (who I assumed is/was the manager) stating that he had a noise complaint about our room. My husband let him in and showed him that me and our son was asleep so it could not have been us. The manager looked around, even checking the bathroom like we were part of some elaborate rouse to deceive him before leaving. Half an hour later, the man returned to the door and reiterated that he had a noise complaint. My husband ended up arguing with him saying that it was not coming from our room and you could hear it down the corridor. After about another half an hour as my husband got into bed, the man used his key card to let himself into our room which woke my husband up. He ended up arguing again with him before he let himself out. Oblivious to most of this I went to leave our room only to find that not only was the door unlocked but it was open by an inch. When I flagged this up to my husband, he explained what had happened and that "he (the man) had probably let himself in again". In what World is it appropriate for a stranger to allow themselves free access into someone's room without permission? He verified twice before there was no noise but let himself in for the third. Not only could any of us have been walking around in our boxers or just out of a shower, he invaded our privacy. Leaving the door visibly open without us noticing meant that not only could we have been robbed but anyone else could have entered and attacked us or snatched our son. Because of the harassment during the night, my husband only got a few hours sleep and his weekend was ruined. The following morning we seen the man from the night before as we checked out. He looked me up and down before continuing his phone conversation. No apology, no acknowledgement of him being in the wrong...nothing. In all my years of travelling and staying in hotels have I ever been in a situation like this - you just don't treat customers like that! The only decent, polite and friendly people are those who do the breakfast, everyone else seemed far too busy and important to even acknowledge you as a guest. This hotel will get people staying there because it is cheap, I get that, it's why we did. But it is a hotel like the house that Jack built with passive and rude customer service supported by a management team that are more concerned lining their pockets than ensuring you have a good time. I have given this 'hotel' a 1 star because I could not give it a zero but what you should give it is a wide birth if you are looking at staying in London. Shoddy standards and service are one thing, but are you prepared to stay somewhere where the staff think nothing of letting themselves into your room when you are asleep? Save your money and stay somewhere safer.

    Service @ breakfast

Booked this pleasant hotel for my family, had no issue to check in, room was value for money, checking staff at reception pleasant. Night mare in the breakfast reastaurant was descriminated by the staff who insulted my parent telling them Im not here to Waite for your all day! If you cant speak English dont open your mouth adding the comment these kind of people are like that . She was apparently the supervisor as told by the other colleague when I went to complaint. She had attitude towards us - I felt discriminated! I travel the world but was never treated in such a disrespectful manner. An appauling service! Where you are discriminated and treated inferiority. Shame its such a pleasent Hotel!having a management like that detrimental for the business.
