spa supurbWe only used the spa facilities, but have too say marvelous. Beautiful peaceful surroundings, very professional staff. The massage and body scrub is a must and quiet a bit cheaper, than chic places in town. The older traditional places give echoes back to the Bali of years gone by.

Disappointing experience (spa only, not the home stay)My partner and I dropped in to the spa for a one hour Balinese massage after a long day walking. After waiting ten minutes for the massage, we were cramped into a room with four massage tables. For the first ten minutes of the massage, the massage therapists seemed more interested in their conversation than on the massage. Then, after my partner complained, they stopped chatting but the massage didnt really improve. As therapists they seemed pretty disinterested and the massage technique was limp and slap-dash, and the treatment on each side of the body was uneven. In addition, the towels on the massage tables were used. This was so disappointing as we had two amazing massages before this while in Gili Air (at Harmony Spa).

My 5th or 6th stay here, the BEST!I have been coming to Mai Malu for 3 years and is just like coming home! Putu, Wayan and family will always ensure you are comfortable, but still give you privacy. I always stay in the upstairs room which is more than spacious and comfortable (this year they even added a small bar fridge.. awesome!). The atmosphere is lovely with chirping birds, koi pond and the family (and spa gals) who are always happy/smiling/laughing. It's a super cool and friendly vibe, especially nice for solo travelers (like me). The price is RIGHT too! Breakfast included and some rooms have AC. The bed is super comfortable and the WIFI is really good (very important for me as I work on the road and also like to stream movies at night). The evenings are quiet, which is amazing, considering you are steps away from the BEST street for restaurants in Ubud. Cannot beat this location! Goutama Street has everything from thai, to sushi, to curries, fusion, raw food, cafes, you name it! You barely need to leave the street! The Palace and other attractions very close walking distance and the shopping on Hanoman is the best. Wayan also provides airport transport and attraction tickets onsite, one stop shop. Highly recommend!!!

Spa visit drop inI took a foot massage and the lady massaging med took a phone call, did the same movement for 8 min until I asked her to change to another movement. My boyfriend took the deep tissue massage but there was nothing deep about it, more like an oil massage. We tried to refuse to pay full price cause we didn't think they had furfled their service. But there boss wasn't there so we couldn't complain they said. Really really bad!!!

Worst massage ever! The room for the Balinese massage was stinky, the movements of a girl which was making massage were rude and harsh. All the things that are supposed to be pleasant were painful or unpleasant. I asked to ease the pushing 3 times, but it worked may be for 20 seconds. Long nails scratched and bit my skin, fingers tweaked, puffy belly pressed my had to the bench, when the girl leaned, while she really didnt care. And... do you think massage should leave bruises on your body? Well, you will have them after massage in Mai Malu. I thought she was trying to kill me and being not able to bear these tortures, Ive asked to stop before the hour ended. Theres one positive thing though: I survived.
