  This is a pretty town with heaps of history and great buildings but this place adds nothing. Comfortable enough and rooms are ok but the views of the carpark don't do it for me. Supposedly has wifi but never connects, let alone works, and the hotel staff seem quite disinterested

  Location is good

  This hotel is ideal for a one night stop, sadly no offerings once you arrive. Large car park at the back of Hotel. In walking distance of restaurants . Breakfast was ok. The lady on reception was very helpful and phoned another Hotel for our next stop as this was a busy time.

  Perfect after a disastrous journey

  After a dramatic and rather scary breakdown on our journey home from the south of France, our insurance company arranged for a taxi to take us to a nearby hotel, and thus we washed up at the Hotel St Jacques in Parthenay late in the evening. Happily, all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, helping us to find somewhere to eat (Restaurant La Truffade - great-value bistro serving Auvergne food), and looking after us with great care throughout our unplanned stay. Rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and peaceful, with comfy beds and good showers. The next morning we surfaced too late for breakfast, but the receptionist had laid the table for us nonetheless and insisted that we have our breakfast since it was already paid for (by the insurance company). And a very good breakfast it was too - yogurt, fruit, lovely bread and croissants, fabulous butter and jams, and really good coffee even though it was from a machine. They looked after our bags for us while we wandered around the medieval part of Parthenay, and took good care of us as we got our affairs in order and waited for a taxi to take us to the garage to collect the car. We were so grateful for their helpfulness and concern after a rather traumatic day. Can't praise the staff enough.

  Incredibly kind

  We stayed here overnight on our trip up to Saint Malo. The service was very professional and helpful and the rooms were an excellent size, very clean and very comfortable. I left a ring in my hotel room and it was very kindly posted to the hotel we were going to stay in Paris! Incredibly kind, thank you so much!

  Awesome location!

  Just a few footsteps from a fantastic bakery down the street and, of course, the old town right across the parking lot! Just follow the church spire! The hotel is a little dated, but don't let this fool you. The hotel is quite clean and perfectly suitable for a brief stay in this town.
