Hungry Visitors in need of nourishmentAfter a long drive we arrived at The Armony Hotel looking forward to a shower rand a good meal. We booked in, not easily, as the receptionist, Delphine, did not have much English. It was Friday night and the weather was not good, rain to the extreme. We asked should we book to eat that evening, this was at around 5p.m., to be told the restaurant was shut. The board outside said it only closed Sundays and Bank Holidays. We ask why it was closed to be told it was closed. We were told there were lots of restaurants in the town. We did not want to drive but had to as it was too far for me to walk as I have arthritis and not too agile. The main road in the town was half shut due to repairs, no restaurants open only Lidl!!!!! We try a Grill that was advertised and after sometime driving up and down found it just off the motorway. Walked up to it and the heavens opened on two tired inappropriately dressed travellers coming from the heat of Spain. This Grill was also closed. We walked back to the car with as much speed as could be mustered, dripping, cold and hungry. We decided we would have to go back to the Hotel which we did and on entering was met by the same receptionist who laughed at the state of us thinking it was funny. It was not appreciated and we went to our room to find in our cold box any leftovers from lunch. Why do Hotels advertise restaurants and then close them without any notice or reason?

Could have been so much betterWe stayed with a choir at the hotel for 3 nights, up to 50 people in total. This meant that the hotel were making some £8,500 from the stay so we would have expected something better than we got. The few staff that were available were most polite and helpful, but struggled to cope with the numbers. We had one set meal for Euro 20 each which was reasonable but every breakfast was an extra 9 Euros per person and all they provided was a piece of baguette (with the usual butter and jam sachet) a mini croissant and a mini pain au chocolat. Tea and coffee from thermos flasks. In the main dining room which we were not allowed to use, there were all the usual extras at the same price which caused major resentment. A pity that this coloured all the good points about the convenient location (only 15 minutes walk to the town centre with a nice square and cafe), the adequate rooms (we had a disabled wet room though our disabled member didn't!!) and the helpful "gaurdian/night porter" who sorted our failed door key at 11.30 at night. In fact, the lack of staff was the hotels biggest failure which we couldn't explain given the length of notice they had of our stay. Sorry, 3 stars is about the best I can offer.

Good locationGood location if travelling and for a one night stay, it seems to be located in an industrial area. Be mindful, the reception closes at 10pm and the receptionist is replaced by a none English speaking security, who I never saw after the receptionist had gone, (I think he hides). Although this didn't cause an issue for me, as I arrived around 6.30pm, it did cause some concern and issues for customers who arrived later. They couldn't get in and when they were let in, there was no one around to give them their key cards etc, the reception was all locked up. The rooms were adequate for a one night stay, but again, there is very little open during the week. The nearest town is 5 minutes walk, but very quiet and nothing seemed open after 10pm. There is ample secure parking, which suited me down to the ground as that was most important to me.

Spot onHaving read mixed reviews, wasnt sure what to expect, didnt need to worry. Arrived at 22:30, friendly & helpful receptionist. Small room but we didnt need much for one night. Bed very comfy. Extra for our dogs & parrot but cheaper than others in the area. Breakfast was very fresh & again, another helpful receptionist. Would recommend.

Excellent stopoverWe stayed one night on 21st December 2018 enroute to Germany for Christmas. We had disembarked in Cherbourg around 4.30pm and decided to break our trip with an overnight. The hotel had emailed us earlier with entry codes explaining that no one would be on reception. As it turned out the staff were there all ready for their xmas night out. A very pleasant lady checked us in and gave us our key. Our room was very large with a lovely bathroom. All immaculately clean. Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast next morning was in the restaurant. Self service cereal, eggs, juice toast, cheese, ham tea and coffee. It seemed we were the only guests in the hotel! We would have no hesitation staying there agsin. Carpark was very secure fenced with a code to enter
