  7 nights of madness

  Travelled to Jamaica with toddler of 30 months. After 15 years away from the Island, I decided we would rest our feet and have family visit us for a change!! Since I am yet to own a property in Jamaica, a hotel room for a week charging me £800 GBP seemed a viable option. Staff not helpful and unhappy in their day to day toll at work. Cockroaches in the bedroom, bathroom towels too small. Although kept fairly clean the hotel could do with an overall refurbishment. The swimming pool is inadequately small and cannot fit more than 5-10 people at a time. If only for business of conference would I recommend the Christar Villas. The short distance to the Bob Marley museum, Soverign centre and other well known locations is the only good thing I found. The hotel food is over priced and the dishes are small in size.

  The good: - It is walking distance from the US embassy, close to the Bob Marley museum, Soverign centre and other well known locations. - The staff was helpful in most cases - 147 for a night ( included tax) - room was a good size - beds were comfortable - clean enough - food was ok - continental breakfast included - small kitchenette inclusive of a nice size refrigerator The bad: - staff always needed to contact someone else in order to answer simple questions. - no wifi was available and no business center to get work done - Cockroaches in bathroom - not sufficiet wash clothes towels too small. - some furniture in the rooms either need to be refurbished or thrown out or properly cleaned - the swimming pool is quite small and did not look "clean" - my son refused to swim in it. - The hotel food was over priced - breakfast was always finished before the alotted breakfast time. - security on the doors was not at a good standard. The door did not lock in properly in the first instance. Summary: Not a bad location and has the potential to be a very good option for staying in Kinston should the owners take the time to evaluate, refurbish and spend the money to upgrade. The front office staff were very nice and professional. It was hard to get upset about the things lacking.

  Spa meets contemporary

  Wow! the upgrade to the. rooms gives a feeling of spa meets contemporary. Fabulous renovations!! It was a great experience. I will recommend staying at Christar when in Kingston. It was great seeing these upgrades.... very friendly staff :)

  We found the place to need much repair and maintenance it was in a poor section of town and it was constant construction annoyed by the noise entire time we were there employees were helpful I did not get our wake up call and would not recommend the place

  Great Deception

  I don't often write reviews (Seeing my and myself are both hospitality managers) because I know a lot of guests lie and it reflects negatively on the hotels. Having said that,We come to Jam once or twice a year we have never booked it, it just never grabbed at me. So after looking for rates for spring we got a good rate at this hotel (most was full anyway due to carnival in Jam).I must say I am impressed, with the following. 1. The security (day security) is never bothered at the frequency in which he has to open the gate for us. 2. The front desk was very nice (Claudette,Janice and another young lady I cannot remember her name,(not catchy) and never seem annoyed at check in or during stay. Janice even held a room for us seeing we needed a room for 2 more nights.. and When we called a few days after we realized that they had us extended in our same room (Claudette/Janice. 3. It's the first hotel we have stayed at that served cooked meal for continental breakfast 4. House keeping (Shawna) was on time daily and she cleaned to perfection,her supervisor was nice n checked on us daily for her name 5. Bar (Ceejay on internship) I think, is just simply a detailed and caring waiter,one day I asked both him and the lady in the bar what was the ground food they had, and she said I dont know, and he said let me find out for you.We give it 4 star bcos this little fridge made a popping sound every 10 minutes woke us up a few times.
