  Great building, great stay

  Beautiful old victorian home in amazing condition. Great history to the building. Great location in the heart of uptown saint john close to everything uptown. Room was lovely and very clean. Would highly recommend.

  Wonderful Historic Location in Uptown Saint John

  Stayed at the Sydney Street Location with friends and I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of comforts provided, especially the bed! Unique furnishings fill the location and you can find something interesting at every turn! I would highly recommend staying at any of the Chipman Hill Suites.

  Lovely Heritage Inn

  We had a very comfortable stay at Chipman Hill's Sydney Street location! Their heritage home was beautiful, with an adorable little sunroom filled with plants. They have updated suites that are very clean while maintaining the heritage and charm. We had all the necessities to make our stay enjoyable, and it was like a little home away from home, including a laundry facility (for free, no coins needed). The spot is well-situated in uptown Saint John, near shopping and lots of restaurants! They also have a variety of room sizes depending on your needs. I have already recommended them to friends and family because we were so pleased! We also appreciated our housekeeper, Robyn. We didn't get to meet her (which is probably because they take social distancing seriously) but she did a wonderful job and we had all the fresh towels that we needed. I don't know how she gets the corners tucked so nicely either!

  One of a kind place to stay in Saint John

  Stayed at Chipman Hill with a group of friends and I can confidently say that each and everyone of us enjoyed our time and our stay. Clean, amazing decor & great amenities. Would recommend to everyone!!

  Great place to host a writing retreat

  My partner Gerard Collins and I operate Go and Write!, a writing retreat and travel company. We have hosted retreats in Ireland, Scotland, and Italy, but also much closer to home, in Saint Andrews and Saint John here in New Brunswick, as well as in Lunenburg in Nova Scotia. In January 2020, we hosted a writing retreat at Chipman Hill Suite's 71 Sydney Street location in Saint John, New Brunswick. We booked the entire building, a gorgeous Victorian Mansion built in 1891, and it was a perfect venue for our purposes. We hosted several other writers for the retreat, and each of their rooms was self-contained, with their own ensuite bathrooms and kitchenettes. This allowed participants to remain ensconced in their rooms to stay focused on their writing if they were on a roll, and was economical for those who wanted to cook their own meals as well. That being said, when you're in Saint John, it's REALLY hard not to take advantage of the exceptional pubs and restaurants. We worked with Sarah LeBlanc to pull this retreat together, and she was accommodating and thoughtful - Sarah not only understands the particular needs of writers, she anticipates them. The bedrooms are all beautiful and unique, each with their own historic personality, and the common areas are spacious and well-furnished. There are a couple of pianos (properly tuned!), and the dining area was perfect for the group writing workshops we held during our four night stay. There's also a fabulous solarium/rotunda where Gerard held one-on-one meetings with each writer to talk about their projects - it was a comfortable and inspiring spot for these individual chats. Chipman Hill Suites has several great properties besides 71 Sydney Street, and it's my top recommendation to come-from-aways. It's our favourite place stay each time we come to Saint John.
