  Great adults only weekend getaway for our family!

  My sisters and I rented out the 4 rooms of the Inn with our respective significant others for a weekend getaway from kids, COVID, and for Christmas instead of getting gifts for each other. What an incredible experience! Monika is a fantastic chef and Jeff provides service beyond reproach! During our time there, everyone from the guests (my fam) to the hosts wore masks while we were in public spaces in the BnB, only removing them for meals, in our bedrooms/bathrooms, and in common areas after J&M had vacated the house between meals. As one of my sister's family had already been through a COVID infection a couple months earlier, we knew how important taking precautions was during our stay. Despite this oddity of the era, it was like having a huge family home to ourselves with none of the fuss of meals or housekeeping! Every meal was delicious with rich, hearty breakfasts that aromatically filled the house and complex, 5 course dinners that coerced my waistline at each sitting. The wines they've curated pair excellently with the flavors from the kitchen and were modest on my wallet. If I wasn't clear, do not skip the indulgence of the meals while you're there! The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, well decorated, and kept at a comfortable temperature. Having lived in my share of "vintage" apartments, old houses can be drafty and water pressure can be challenging if you like a strong shower. Pleasantly, the Chestnut didn't share these characteristics. While not the focus of my trip, the movie collections were nostalgic for a borderline millennial/gen-Xer such as myself, and their book collection had many of my favorite pop culture favorites. While my sisters have all been here before, this was my first time here, but it won't be the last. The distance from Chicago is just far enough where you feel like you're getting away, but close enough where it doesn't feel too long for just a weekend.

  Bed, breakfast, dinners, and a very safe and welcoming inn

  Chestnut Street Inn remains our favorite B & B: wonderful breakfasts (Bird in the Nest a highlight) and dinners (Friday night Mediteranean shrimp scampi, red lentil soup, lamb, creme broulee; Saturday night butternut squash soup, amazing avacado, pear, winter green salad; pork with Hollandaise, brownies). Monika and Jeff have taken exceptional steps to ensure safe quarters--masks required, distance maintained, sanitizer readily available), but they also have maintained their cheerful and very engaging personalities and have, as usual, attentive to any requests. Chesnutt Street Inn is a jewel which I hope you may be able to enjoy

  Well rested, well fed and very well taken care of!

  We just wanted an out-of-home experience during this time of Covid-19. Having been to the Inn once before, we knew it would be worth our while to once again be spoiled by the innkeepers. The pains they took to make us comfortable and Covid-safe were above and beyond what we expected. Delicious, delicious, delicious meals in a lovely, serene setting were just what we wanted. The room was right-sized for us, and a king bed was a plus. We enjoyed the historical nature of the home and sightseeing in the area, specifically Bishop Hill. We look forward to staying again, and hope we can send our married children here in the near future. We know they will love it, too!

  One of our favorite places to go to relax and refresh.

  Chestnut Street Inn was one of the first B&B experiences in our married life and remains a favorite in the many years it has been open. The beds are comfortable, the food exquisite, and the entire house a wonderful place to relax. My husband and I stayed there over Valentine's weekend and enjoyed every bite of every meal. Thanks, Monica, for the delicious chocolate dessert. We enjoy the large suite where we have a separate room to put together a puzzle and play games. The one thing we missed this trip was the relative absence of conversation with other guests whom we enjoy meeting. However, the reason was the strict adherence to safety during the Covid pandemic. Wearing masks outside of our room and even when being served enhanced our safety and we greatly appreciated Jeff and Monica's devotion to keeping all of us healthy. Thanks for a special time for us to be renewed in our marriage and our lives!

  Girls trip

  From the house, the charm, the quaint qualities... I could go on and on.... We had the Blue Room Suite... it was amazing!! It consisted of 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, common area. Loved it!!! First floor, love the dining room with all the windows... the entryway... love it!!! We played a game in the sitting room and genuinely enjoyed every second of our stay!! Dinner: An amazing culinary experience!! We loved everything they served us!!! The cleanest place Ive ever stayed!!! Impeccably spotless... no smudges, no fingerprints.... spotless.... we are a bunch, thats for sure... we loved that there was a water closet... seriously, this place is awesome!!! We cant wait to go back!! We ventured out, we really had a great time mingling with local residents at Reds Bar & Grill... everyone is so friendly!! Im not sure I should post this part. We know how to have a good time & It was very hard to refrain from playing a round of Hide & Seek in that incredible Inn!!! Do not skip this place, awesome little getaway!!! Like I said... I can go on & on!!!
