  A Wicklow Special

  As part of a touring holiday in Ireland in June, my wife and I stayed at the Cherrybrook Country Home close to Avoca village in County Wicklow, where we enjoyed truly excellent hospitality from Bernie, who couldn't do enough for us and was always on hand to help us with any queries we had about visits in the area. In particular, Bernie came to our aid when I suffered a burst blood vessel close to my eye, which caused me a great deal of worry as I am in my seventies and didn't know what had caused the problem. Bernie was so sympathetic and genuinely concerned for me, and she put me in touch with a 24 hour emergency clinic in Arklow, providing me with full directions. When I returned from the clinic after very unsympathetic treatment by the clinic's rude and arrogant booking-in clerk, Bernie insisted that I call her at any time during the night if I suffered further illness and she would sort out medical help. I was most impressed and reassured by such close personal attention. Throughout our stay at this excellent B & B, my wife and I were treated with such warmth and courtesy. The en suite room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfasts so large that they lasted us all day! Good parking on site and the easy access to the Wicklow Mountains and Avoca (location of the old TV series Ballykissangel) were added bonuses and we had a truly marvellous stay.   Nice & Comfy BnB

  Beautiful, nice & clean place to stay. One of the better bnb's we have stayed at on our trip from Canada. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with the lounge and breakfast area modernized as well. The hostess, Bernie was an absolute delight, and her breakfast was delicious. I don't really like the Irish puddings with breakfast, but hers were perfect. Thank you very much Bernie for everything, and we hope to stay here again on our next trip back to Ireland.

  Very nice B&B

  Clean and nice place, and the host, Bernie, is very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast every morning. You just leave your order before going to bed, and Bernie cooks what you like. Eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes and so on. Quiet and beautiful area. You can walk to the village in 10-12 minutes. In the village you can find a pub, a snackplace (Fisch & chips and burgers), and a small grocery shop. The area is lovely for sightseeing and hiking, but you need a car to get around.

  This is an adequate B&B. It is clean and quiet (apart from sporadic cacophony of dogs barking next door - kennels?). The owner is welcoming. However my main gripe about this place is the balance of quality against price. Weve stayed all over Ireland and this place is the most expensive for what you get which isnt much. Cheap bath products, cheap sheets, cheap breakfast (longlife croissants individually wrapped (really?), tinned fruit. Everything feels like its done with regard to maximum profit for minimum input. It is overpriced esp when considering its location.

  Clean Quiet Great Value Highly Recommend

  This B&B is about 1km from Avoca Handweavers and ideal base for walkers or golfers. My husband was playing golf so I decided to tag along and enjoy Avoca Village. We had a room to the rear of the house which was wonderfully quiet & peaceful. Large ensuite with great shower. Plenty of choice for breakfast which was cooked fresh to order, a choice of breads & pastries with individually wrapped croissants & brioche which I assume where for hygiene reasons & most likely more expensive to provide. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable bed & bedding very nice I loved the white bedding. The towels were changed on the morning we stayed over. We found this B&B to be lovely & great value for us. Great Welcome a host available if we need directions etc and a lounge for guests use. We would stay again and recommend.
