Can't complainLocation very good; many restaurants and shopping options within walkimg distance im Riccarton area. Also nearest hotel to Hagley Oval; 20 min walk or 5-min bus ride. Kitchen in the room was useful. Mostly clean rooms.

A pleasant overnight stayArriving by taxi from Christchurch Airport it was noted that the appearance of the motel located on Riccarton road was average. The duty manager was on hand and pleasant to deal with. Our room was on the ground floor of a two story building. The unit consisted of a large room with a substantial double bed, cooking facilities at the entrance, and a separate toilet/ shower facility. Everything was very clean and tidy. The only problem was that the electric kettle would not work. A visit to the duty manager saw this problem quickly dealt with. The bed was found to be extremely comfortable, we slept well. The dominating feature of the room was the blind covering the large windows. It had a picture of a alpine scene with flowers in the foreground. Overall it was very attractive. There was a petrol station across the road, and some cafeteria facilities close by. As a matter of interest, the main reason that we chose this motel was that, according to location indicators, it was within reasonable walking distance to the Christchurch railway station. We found that it was about 30 minutes away, walking without baggage, and that due to minimal signage, the station was not that easy to find. An enquiry with a local passerby was fruitless, they did not know where the station was, though a second attempt further on was somewhat more helpful. We decided that we would arrange a taxi to get us there next morning. A wise move.

Avoidance is bestUndoubtedly the worst motel ever. Old cramped rooms. Have to be 3 foot tall for shower. Run down. Put 3 beds together and classed as double. Had a hooker next door doing her business. Probably should have bought a tent and stayed in hagley Park. NEVER AGAIN. AVOID THIS PLACE

Basic accommodationThe motel is run down and needs modernizing. OK for a short one night stay. One would not recommend this motel for long stays. One good point though - the beds were quite comfortable. Location is handy to the Park.Lots of restaurants nearby.

Woof, an absolute diveMy work travel agent had to book me somewhere last minute and only high-end hotels or youth hostels remained - nothing mid-range. I'm always happy staying in motels so didn't mind at all. The motel's location is good - on Riccarton Rd near Deans Ave, easy access to the city, airport and mall. That's the only thing that's good. When I arrived, a group of men were drinking and shouting on the motel forecourt and ambling between rooms. It was very intimidating to walk past them several times a day as a woman traveling by myself and I dreaded doing so late at night when I came back from meetings. The guy in the room next door wasn't intimidating but did leave his TV on very loudly all night long. I suspect there are a number of people living there in an emergency accommodation or boarding house capacity, which is totally fine, but shouldn't be advertised as commercial accommodation if that's the case. The room stank of stale cigarette smoke and a sign on the wall warned you to secure all windows, so I didn't feel safe leaving them open when I went out (which was most of the day, so the room never got aired). The bed was incredibly hard and uncomfortable, with lumpy pillows. The duvet cover and sheets had bloodstains on them. There was apparently wifi but it didn't work. Had to request fresh towels the second day. A youth hostel might have been cleaner, and felt safer!
