  Hotel lujoso

  recomiendo para estancia larga, cómodo y bien situado. Spa y desayuno algo caro. Por lo demás habitaciones y baños de lujo limpias y amplias. No hay mucho más que decir. La zona es nueva pudong muy cerca de recinto ferial nuevo así que ideal para asistencia ferias

  Lujo asiático

  El hotel es muy lujoso, muy recargado, pero muy cómodo, muy limpio, y con habitaciones y baño muy amplios. El wifi va regular, poco ancho de banda, pero esto es un mal común en los hoteles, y más en China. Hemos cenado buffete en el e-café restaurant del hotel, no me ha gustado nada. Todo parecía que llevaba bastante tiempo expuesto, bastante seco todo, a pesar de la muy buena presentación de los platos. Es relativamente cao, unos 45/pax. El hotel lo recomiendo, el restaurante no.

  Excellent hotel

  We loved our experience in the chateau star river hotel. The staff is professional and very helpful, most notably the cleaning lady Chang Qia in our floor (6th) was excellent at her job and was very responsive. She even helped us with translation and assisted us in doing laundry given our relatively lengthy stay . Would definitely stay at the chateau once more.

  Nice castle-like hotel

  The hotel is indeed like a huge castle with extremely high walls decorated with beautiful paintings. The guest rooms are nicely furnished and well maintained. The only minus is that balcony door is locked for security reasons. If you come to Shanghai by air, you can either use a taxi all way long - or take a faster and more exciting alternative: Maglev train and then continue with metro line 7 (2 stations) or take a short taxi drive from the Maglev station. To get to the city use metro - fast and cheap. The station is just a few minutes away. The staff at the reception is nice and attentive. The staff in the restaurant (breakfast) could be a bit more active. Getting coffee is a challenge - we had the same problem every day: either water tank empty or the unit not rinsed :) Guess not that many coffee-drinkers visit there. Food is ok - warm food could be warmer, choice is however good. Both Chinese and Western choices. Lots of fruits. The health center has a swimming pool and a well equipped gym.

  Avoid, avoid, avoid

  I was here for three nights last night. The hotel claims to be a top hotel, but there are lots of things wrong with it. I'll try to be fair. It is marble heavy but service light. To get to breakfast, or to the bar, you have to take a circuitous route, underserved by signs. For example, if you are staying in one of the rooms in the main block, you take the lift to the ground floor and presume it is easy to get to breakfast. That's a big mistake. If you get off at the ground floor, and head out of the hotel to get to breakfast by walking outside, avoiding the traffic, it takes you to a tea room that serves as a bar in the evening, and you can't get to the breakfast room. Instead, you should take the lift to the basement, where you walk along a dark corridor. If you want a drink, you go to the tea room, where the bar closes so early that you may as well not bother and take a cab into central Shanghai. We asked reception when the bar closed - reception said at 11PM. No - it closes far earlier. We were redirected to the spa (mistake - bar), which closes at 1PM. As for the room itself, it was certainly spacious but you felt cut off from the rest of the hotel. There's marble everywhere but lots of places where you might fall and trip over - we were extra cautious and watched our step. The staff were as helpful as they could be - I have no Chinese - but like a previous reviewer I found the cleaning staff more helpful than the reception staff. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy - actually I would recommend it to my worst enemy. There were few facilities in my room, but the gas masks in my room failed to inspire me with confidence. I can't fault the staff. They tried to be helpful. But given the lack of a hotel map or a compass, I would recommend people stay in another hotel in Shanghai.
