Thieves. Stay away!Stay away from this hotel! I tried to book online through their website on 22 June for August and found --as is the norm-- two fees: one, more expensive, fully refundable; the other, cheaper, not refundable. For some reason the former, which is what we wanted for peace of mind, could not be booked. I called the hotel and spoke to the manager: she said that there was an issue with the website but that she would happily take my details over the phone for the refundable fee, warning me, however, that I had to pay in advance 50%. I went ahead with the knowledge that it was a refundable fee. The next morning I received confirmation in the form of an email from the hotel confirming that the reservation was fully refundable up to 30 days before we were due, thus I was satisfied that all had been done properly. In thanking them, I asked for a quiet room which did not face the N20 which other reviewers said was noisy. By way of reply was told that the room did face the N20. Having written again, I was again told that that was the room I would get so we decided to go elsewhere and cancel our reservation, assuming that we would get our full refund back. But oh no! In writing to them to this effect, the manager did apologise and offered a quiet room (so why refuse it in the first place?) but we explained that unfortunately we had lost confidence and had reserved elsewhere and wished to go ahead with our cancellation. This process proved to be one of the most protracted and disagreeable experiences ever: after 10 days the manager told us we would have to pay 15 euros for an administration fee! We wrote repeatedly asking for an explanation and stating that no such fee was mentioned in her email confirmation nor on her website and as such that she had a legal obligation (and a moral one) to return the full amount. But the manager refused to do so even when I informed her that Les Collectionneurs, the chain to which the hotel belongs, suggested that if she continued we would make a formal complaint with them, which eventually we ended up doing. You have been warned!

Charming old hotelWe stayed one night, charming and helpful reception on arriving late. Dinner was ok, we were the only ones eating. My filet of beef was really very good, my wife's Coq au vin a bit ordinary. Room was large and comfortable, a bit tired round the edges but full of character and not expensive, so we thought actually very good value. Breakfast was comprehensive and perfect. Many thanks, and if we are back your way we will certainly try and stay again.

Great overnight on long caar journeyPicture-perfect chateau within 10-15mins drive from the autoroute. Loads of on-site parking, spacious rooms, welcoming staff and a lovely chateau experience. Public rooms are oak-panelled with lots of original features. The restaurant has a good seasonal menu with a interesting selection of local wine. We would love to return in the future.

A marvelous place to stop over. Or stay longer! This was a great stay. We were travelling from south of Toulouse to Calais, which we do regularly, and decided to break the journey on this occasion. The hotel is situated off the old N20, south of Orleans and north of Vierzon. The hotel is not far from the A71 and is easy to fine. It is a lovely old chateau with extensive grounds, and is private and secure with easy parking. We went for a long walk before dinner. Everyone working here could not have been nicer or more helpful. Our welcome was friendly and efficient. We had booked one of their more basic rooms in one of the outbuildings and could not fault it. We have read other reviews and it is true that the toilet is a little cramped but it is certainly not an issue and the bathroom is large! We opened the windows as the room was a little warm when we arrived. We slept very well in a large and extremely comfortable bed. We had dinner in the atmospheric and cosy restaurant, and were served with warmth and humour. The food was outstanding, and was served at the right pace and with well priced Rhone wine served at the right temperature. They have expresso coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed the extended meal, and it felt like a special occasion. Te breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, and again served with warmth and kindness. And finally the bill at the end of it was fine, and comparable to other Logis hotels we have stayed in but which were not nearly so good!

GO THERE FOR THE FOOD!Travelling from Calais to Chateau les Muids on your way south is a good stop-off. All you really need is a bed for the night. What you really really need to start your holiday off with a bang is a wonderful evening meal in an atmospheric dining room. Chateau les Muids offers just that! The amuse bouche was out of this world and everything that followed was just as wonderful.
