    Stay cation

lovely couple of days getting the last of the summer sunshine, really away from it all weekend in beautiful old fashion surroundings. Felt like a trip back in time in a good way, luxury and great service, would definitely go back

    The best staycation

My husband and I just had a great staycation in this hotel. From the reception/reservations team (Kasia/Nikki) to the restaurant & bar staff, the service was extraordinary. They made you feel so cozy and welcoming. All professional. We stayed in Jasmine room which was clean and lovely. Plus we had Jacuzzi in our room. During this pandemic they did inform you on the e-mail that they couldn't do a turn down service, however if you need any more items like toileteries, a bottle of water etc. There was no trouble at all. Thank you so much Chateau la Chaire team you made our stay amazing! Xxx

    Overpriced and under staffed

Bedroom and bathroom a good size. Bathroom needs painting and bath replacing as scratched and jacuzzi not working, which we told lady at reception and apologies were given. I hope it was fixed for the next client as that was a big draw for me as I love a long soak after a walk. Told receptionist that WiFi was working intermittently and buffering and was assured they would look into this while we were out during the day but had to ask again as still not working as it should. We were told it was because everyone was using the internet! Not at 6.30 am ! 1 WiFi bar only in our room. Sitting room next to reception was the only place that had good WiFi but as dogs are allowed in here and Im allergic it made it uncomfortable for me to stay. (sneezing at this time gets you dirty looks in the year 2020). During the evening meal while most of us in dining room I tried again but still buffering! The internet problem is unacceptable and to be brushed off with such a ridiculous excuse is an insult. Water, tea and coffee in the room with fresh milk in the fridge. Coffee and tea a good quality. We were on half board but found there were supplements on each area of the menu. Same menu both nights which meant if you were a vegetarian you had to eat the same thing. Third meal was at their sister establishment which was the pub across the road. Excellent meal there. Breakfast was good with a range of continental and cooked things on it. Their private car par was not close to the hotel. Iron and ironing board and hairdryer in the room and a T.V We had an offer on their staycation which gave us 1/2 a bottle of champagne on arrival and tea and scone on one day. Not as many staff as when I last came here, this meant waiting in various areas for someone to see you, though there was a bell to alert the staff, not really what you should have in this type of hotel and Ive not seen it in previous years. I felt this impacted the service or lack of! We had a balcony which would have been lovely if the weather was nice. No pool or spa. Near a lovely little harbor and bay. Good amount of sockets. They wanted us to state a time for each meal and if we wanted pre dinner drinks, not had this at any other hotel in Jersey in 2020, found that annoying as it felt like we were restricted to a timetable not of our making. I know think was not for COVID reasons but to spread out the covers because of the lack of staff. On the second night the room next door to ours was occupied so we realized that the rooms had no sound proofing. Not noisy people but you could hear them talking. This is an old hotel so that is maybe why. Do not come here if you need internet and privacy. I would not stay here again and I would think twice about eating here as the lack of staff meant time waiting for service.

    Amazing experience

I booked the Friday special and was fortunate that hotels were allowed to reopen the week that we were staying. I don't do staycations that often but I have to say that this felt like a great little getaway. We were greeted by a charming receptionist who went through all the new rules - everything was disinfected, chairs, keys, etc before being passed over. I had booked the suite and it lived up to all expectations. The added bonus was a full sized bottle of champagne waiting for us which had to be drunk in the room but that wasn't too hard to comply with. We went down to dinner at our allotted time, wearing masks which we were able to remove once we had some water to drink on the table. All the staff were fabulous and the food was amazing. We didn't quite finish off the bottle of wine but were able to retire to our room with the remainder. Having to pre-book a time for breakfast we arrived slightly earlier with no problem and again the food was very tasty. All in all it was a lovely weekend - thank you Chateau La Chaire.

    Snoozy Sunday

We saw the Snoozy Sunday advertised on the Chateau La Chaire website and it seemed like a good idea so we booked. Covid track and trace scan in reception when you arrive and all the staff follow the Covid rules. Sunday lunch was very good with plenty of selections on the menu. The roast beef was tender and tasted like beef should. As for the Yorkshire pudding, even large wouldnt describe it. The chef must be very proud of them. Leisurely coffee in the lounge after lunch where we were allowed to take our dog. Sunday evening we were still full after lunch. Walking the dog before dark helped a little. We ordered some sandwiches from room service which turned up very promptly and they more than sufficed for an evening meal. The en-suite room, with a balcony, was very comfortable and we all slept well. The hotel always has a lovely old fashioned quietness about it. But with guests chatting happily it makes for a very friendly ambience. Staff, whether they are dining room staff or reception staff are attentive and friendly and look after you so well. After getting up later than normal on Monday we had a Full Jersey breakfast which set us up for the day before leaving. A very enjoyable Snoozy Sunday at the Chateau La Chaire which is highly recommended.
