The ShiningThe staff is very nice and helpful. However, fire alarm going off at 11 PM when youre ready to go to sleep is horrible. The ice machine not working on the fifth floor? sucks. The elevator near your room that doesnt work since the last review you saw? also sucks. The stairwells that are not at all labeled so God forbid there really was a fire and you had to get out, you wouldnt know which door to use? triple sucks. And when theres nothing else to do in Bloomington but eat and shop so you decide to stay in and watch movies, the Wi-Fi goes in and out. Totally sucks! The stars are only for the staff. The hotel itself is old and smells of leaking gas in the banquet areas. The pool area is green, dingy and old and quite honestly should be closed for fear of mold and who knows what else might crawl through the cracks. The hot tub isnt hot. This place totally looks like something out of The Shining. If only it was as lush. Free breakfast during the week, potatoes are the only vegan hot item.

Tired of Fire AlarmsMy sister and I booked rooms for each of us (which we do every 6 months approx), and the last 2 times we were there, the fire alarm rang. The desk was apathetic, nobody was in charge to reassure it was a false alarm, etc. We really love everything about the hotel, including the restaurant, but this will be the last time we're awakened in the middle of the night. Sorry.

CLEAN, Comfortable, CheepThis is the 2nd time I have stayed here and I love it even more then the 1st time!!! We travel plenty and we can tell you the most important things are Clean and Comfortable, and you definitely get both for a great price here. The place is for sure quirky, the French meets German with a splash of Beauty and the Beast. You will not get all the extras you might expect but if are just looking for clean and comfortable place with character just book this place. I would be a perfect place to hold a weekend event.

Very Courteous Amidst The COVID-19 BattleMy colleague and I found ourselves in a somewhat embarrassing situation where most people would have given us the cold shoulder, both the General Manager and the Reservation Manager prevented us from feeling like outcasts in a time when the weather and state of our worlds health is nothing short of lackluster. Kudos to MGMT - Angie H. and Jeremy Cruthis.

Beautiful, clean and comfy! The Chateau is clean, quiet, and the staff friendly. It's also BEAUTIFUL. Give me a hotel with character any day over a modern, soulless one. The Chateau is a cross somewhere between The Shining and Beauty and the Beast. I know that sounds odd, but you'll have to come experience it to see what I mean. We LOVED it. There was a problem with a fellow guest acting a fool in the hallway, but management was on that like white on rice and handled it wonderfully. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They could use a couple of updates, such as more outles. Traverlers today generally come with quite a few devices that need charged, and there arent as many outlets as we would have liked. Had to unplug the alarm clock to use one. Oh yeah. And it's supposedly haunted. But the ghosts didn't give us any trouble. Overall, it was a great stay and I'd highly recommend it! If they'd get a website and social media presence, I think they'd do much better!
