Chateau or B&BStopped the night here while following Le Tour de France. Fortunately for us the tour went right through Le Thillot, something we only found out on 1 June (after we started our european tour). Chateau Des Tanneurs is more of a B&B and our host did her best to accommodate us in her own style. There was nothing wrong with this but may not be to everyones taste. Room with balcony was not quiet what we hoped for as no seating, and had to get there through the bathroom which was large but awkward with only a hand held shower rose in the bath. Pool was very good, dinner was of a limited selection but we could of attended one of the local resturants had we wished. Breakfast was again on the basic side. So for these reasons didn't rate the "restaurant" option as it is between poor and average and feel it could be rated poorly depending on the menu for the night you stayed. Similarly for the sleep quality, as we were tired from a big day we fell asleep straight away, and yes it was quiet. Free parking, free Wifi. Value for money - yes. Would I stay here again, yes for a night but maybe not on a longer stay.

Our only option walking the GR5 from Spa, Belgium to Nice, FranceIt was the Monday night of yet another French long week-end, so we were pleased for some accommodation and dinner. We chose the more expensive room at 90 without breakfast. The room was large and traditionally furnished. We had twin beds that were comfortable. Our bathroom was large and had a separate WC. While we had the basics, there was no effort to provide something extra, that we have been provided at many previous nights on our 12 week trek. For example, no tea or coffee making facilities which are standard in many countries throughout the world. We had a balcony off our bathroom but no furniture on which to sit. Our dinner was adequate, certainly nothing special, and, after walking most of the day with a backpack, not particularly substantial. Plain boiled pasta as an accompaniment to a meal is appalling, especially in a country like France. Our hosts were polite, friendly and cooperative.
