Enchanted Harry Potter castleThis winter, my husband and I decided to take the kids to France for a week. We were recommended to try the Bonnevaux castle and it was amazing! It's a really cute old castle with a stairs and doors everywhere that made the kids think we were in a Harry Potter movie! The hosts were extremely nice and accomodating. We went for lots of walks in the beautiful old forest surrounding the castle - the hosts even guided us to find the oldest tree which is 350 years old! The castle has a fabulous atmosphere and an incredible history, vividly retold by the hosts. The French cuisine they offer is simply delicious, as the wine from nearby wine-yards... I can really recommend spending a few days at Bonnevaux castle. My only regret is that we couldn't use the pool - it must be even more amazing in spring and summer! We felt SO welcome and had a great time - we truly got a lot of value for our money!

Beautiful! My husband and I stayed for 3 nights this past month. The house was gorgeous and the rooms were very nice and clean. The owners did a great job of keeping the rustic, historic look - but still had fresh paint on the walls and updated bathrooms. We had dinner there one evening and it was AMAZING! Probably one of the best meals I have ever had. He made all the dishes from local foods, as well as provided local wine. Breakfast was included and it consisted of homemade jams and honey, as well as a variely of other foods. The castle is located about 20 minutes from Vienne, so we did a day trip there, as well as to Lyon. I highly recommended staying here while you visit the area.

Delightful surprise of the highest recommendation! From the moment we arrived, we felt totally welcome. Gilles goes above and beyond to show the greatest hospitality towards his guests. He is always present, but never intrusive. The property is beautiful; the rooms well appointed & spacious. Although a big, old castle, no complaints on the facilities- you find all that you need. Both nights we decided to eat the amazing food that Gilles prepared - nothing short of a terrific restaurant ! I loved the preparation as well as sitting at a long, magnificent table transporting me to another era. Having stayed in many 5- star hotels worldwide, I'd rather stay at Chateau de Bonnevaux any day. My only complaint is that we only stayed 2 days/nights but they were 2 memorable days/nights.

Charming quaint chateauAn excellent evening passed at Bonnevaux. The owners have clearly put a lot of effort in to the restoration, and though it's far from finished they are doing it very tastefully to create a lovely atmosphere. We stayed in a cool airy room and could just close the shutters for the evening. Try the pizza at Ginos in the local village.

Somewhat not as advertised however decentWe arrived at the Chateau around 1:00 and were told we needed to come back at 5:00. No where did we see on the website this information. We we did come back, we tried to go for a swim only to be told the pool was closed. There was also no bar nor a restaurant as was advertised on the web page. As all the restaurants we closed on a Sunday evening, we ended up eating bagels and cheese we luckily got from a local town. The room was decent and clean however the shower had black mold. The Wifi did not extend to our room as we were told it would. For what we paid compared to what we expected, I would not recommend a stay here.
