Dirty and not following COVID19 protocolsFantastic grounds, beautiful room, could be wonderful BUT the staff are not adhering to COVID19 rules: the car valet had his mask under his nose (so right off the bat we didn't feel safe, and now our car is potentially contaminated) and the older front desk woman had her mask around her chin, and when we asked her to put it on, she did but then let it slip below her nose. They really don't care about keeping customers safe. Dirty room: Equally worrying was the dirty condition of the room. Really gross. Food on the ottoman at the end of the bed (not stains, fresh food) and gross stains on the other furniture, the walls, the bathroom amenities, etc. Even the toilet flush had fingerprints on it and the seat was dirty. Unreal. Food issues: Also, they don't offer room service breakfast! They force you to have your overpriced 70 breakfast indoors with other people, during COVID-19! Plus, I see others are upset about this too, but it's very hard/ boring to eat here if you want plant-based or even vegetarian food. Half of the room service menu is pre-made and in jars, and the minibar is seriously lacking (one juice, one beer, one coke, none organic...) Plus, when I booked they didn't tell us that the restaurant would be closed, and we wanted a drink but no bartender is on duty... The expensive room service menu says 24/7 but that's not true, as we were told we could only get 95% of the menu after the kitchen opens at 7:30pm. Other annoyances: Also, small but annoying: only two pillows (no spares in the closet), no water cups. We really wanted to like this place, but it's all a real disappointment.

A solid classic Relais&ChateauxArriving at Chateau de Berne is quite impressive... right you exit the main road, you start to climb the charming hills of Provence full of olive trees, vineyards and pine trees... the scenic is quite spectacular really and this feeling of going to somewhere special is even stronger because it takes a good 20 minutes on a small little road with strictly nothing around before to discover the Estate and its elegant castle. The estate itself is huge because Chateau de Berne is also a well known wine estate but the hotel is secluded in a private part surrounded by lovely gardens and the view is so peaceful, beautiful and relaxing giving the impression you're alone in the world and this is something so precious, especially at that time. When we arrived in middle afternoon, we've been wonderfully welcomed by Christine, the adorable general manager and a very kind receptionist offered us a chilled glass of Rose wine from the estate when sitting in the comfy outside lounge and chatting with the GM. Perfect check on showing a very strong commitment in the guests satisfaction and happiness and an outstanding "taking care". We've been escorted by Christine herself to our very nice Jr Suite (a great upgrade due to our booking with Virtuoso) with a massive private terrace overlooking the castle and the forest. Room was very spacious with high ceilings, perfect bathroom with double sinks, bathtub and separate shower all in a classical and traditional Provence style design. A little bit too much traditional to our taste (with such incredible buildings and castle, there was a potential to do something more spectacular like in other wine estates which have developed an hotel like Delaire Graff and Leeu Estates in South Africa or Chateau de la Gaude in Aix en Provence for examples). That said, our Jr Suite pleased us a lot, we enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine on our terrace with a little breeze and the song of the surrounding nature and we slept deep and well thanks to perfect bedding features. We enjoyed walking all around... herbs garden is wonderful, outside infinity pool large and with perfect loungers but was too windy and a little too cold to enjoy so after walking exercise we went to the perfect inside pool and spa. State of the art equipment and very kind staff. Concerning palates pleasures, chateau de Berne has got a Michelin star (one star) restaurant but being in between two dinners in 3 stars Michelin restaurants, we wanted something more simple and went to the Bistrot... a little disappointing to be frank despite of a very nice service. Food was just OK, nothing special but the less nice was maybe the design and restaurant layout with wrong lighting and a cold atmosphere. It's an interesting option to offer a bistronomic restaurant but it has to be cute which is not exactly the case at Chateau de Berne... a point to improve. In the morning, staff welcomes you with an extreme kindness and generous smiles but due to covid conditions, you cannot serve yourself from the buffet and I'm not a fan of it. It would be better with a la carte breakfast served at the table because it's annoying to wait for a staff to be available to serve you what you want and queuing is not very nice... that's a shame because everything offered from buffet breakfast was homemade and delicious... However, even if a few things can be improved and even if I think that the designer could have been a little more imaginative, we left happy of this experience because the whole team is devoted to your entire satisfaction and after a couple of days, we were refueled with positive vibes and energy.

Nice hotel. Horrible for food.Stayed for a few days in July. We did not like our stay so much and for sure will not return. Positives: The hotel grouds are nice as it is located in a vineyard. The room was large and well appointed. The main pool is nice. Staff is very nice/kind. Breakfast is nice. Negatives: The hotel is very isolated. There is nothing much to do or see around. It is located in a vineyard that produces "cheap" wine (sold in supermarkets in Switzerland where we live) and attracts lots of tourists. One of the restaurants is located close to the shop and exhibition hall for wines (right outside the hotel). This is the kind of restaurant you could find on a highway. Super noisy with bad food. We had booked there the first night but decided to leave after 5mn to go to the gastronomic restaurant. We saw several couples do the same thing. We returned for lunch once; food was a let down even for a simple lunch. The first night we had dinner at the gastronomic restaurant, food was excellent and service was very good. Second night we went to Bruno de Lorgues, which is a local institution (we highly recommend). Third night back to the gastronomic restaurant. Food was horrible. It turns out they have only one set menu and if you go back either you can either have the same menu or they can prepare something else but horrible. Food was so bad we decided not to have dessert and to leave the hotel one night early. Service was also very bad on this second dinner with people waiting for 1h30mn to be able to order food. The hotel manager offered the dinner which was a nice gesture. But I do not go to a gastronomic restaurant to eat badly and get my dinner offered. In the end, this was clearly not as nice as we had expected.
