Had a good timeMy partner and I had a great time. The air conditioning in the hotel was down, so we didnt get the Monte Carlo. We stayed in the presidential instead and it was great. Jacuzzi was very nice, bed was very comfortable. The only downside is the dated look of the hotel, being that it isnt very old. Things such as the curtains being quite old, the carpet looks a little special and stained. Those are trivial things and didnt bring down the overall enjoyment but are the reasons I mark 4 instead of 5. Now to the great part. The bar experience was absolutely wonderful. Pat just made the stay special. It was my birthday and that was the purpose for staying. I would definitely stay again and would even come to the bar when not staying. The food was great, I recommend the Gyro pizza and tiramisu.

Dont pass up the opportunity to have a very unique romantic get away!Sit back with your favorite drink and relax, this is not a short great place, will go back type of review! My husband and I have had the pleasure of staying at Chateau Avalon 3 times now, in a selection of different rooms. In 2018 we stayed in a classic room called Hemingway, in 2019 we came back and stayed in the adventure room Castaway Isle, and in 2020 we stayed in another Adventure room Pirates Cove. I am just now writing a review because I like to stay somewhere a couple of times to really get the feel for a place. All 3 experiences have been nearly the same with a few differences I will point out later. The staff there are absolutely the most pleasant and friendly you can come across, from the front desk to the maintenance! We noticed some changes had been made since we visited last time that made this stay even better than the last. New beds were put in the rooms, which are very comfy. Previously the rooms had no fridge/microwave/coffee pot in them, now they have the fridge and are making plans to add the coffee pot/microwave! The last two stays, we visited the hotel bar called dNile and the bartender Pat. I am old enough, loud packed clubs are no longer enjoyable to me. I want good music I can still talk to others over, good drinks at reasonable prices and friendly staff. While dNile is open to the public, the atmosphere is more like friends getting together than strangers sitting, each at their own table. Pat has truly turned this place into my favorite KC bar! His drink concoctions are really good, he made one with coconut (which I dont actually care for) and I loved it. He knows how to work a crowd and quickly gets everyone visiting with one another and really enjoying their time there. His wife, Marikate, assists with the duties and is every bit as wonderful a person as Pat. They both put every effort into ensuring you have a truly wonderful experience. This stay, we chose to include a couples Swedish massage. This was an excellent decision as we had a great experience. Our Massage therapists were Emily and Albert. They were both extremely friendly, courteous and professional! They asked for our problem areas and completely worked those over, leaving us feeling so much better and completely relaxed. This is just another service that Chateau Avalon offers that we will be using again when we return.

Amazing place for weekend getaway.Place is amazing, we stayed in the Havana Suite. Hot-tub was wonderful and relaxing, nice decor, big 4 poster bed, large bathroom. Not as large of a room as we were expecting after seeing the online photo's. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. A bit pricey but a great stay.

Perfect for a quick getaway!Once again, I wish TripAdvisor had half stars, as this hotel will qualify! Pros: The setting is beautiful. Even in late fall, the trees still had most of their leaves, and provided a somewhat secluded stay. This hotel is near several major KC attractions, including the Kansas speedway, Hollywood casino, and Legends Mall. There are a variety of chain restaurants to eat at, and for a short drive you can find a few more non-chain eateries. The staff was very friendly. We ate supper at the d'NILE bar. The food was fine. I did feel bad for the bartender, Pat. He was trying to man the bar and cook the food, which entailed him running back and forth many times. He stayed on top of everything though, and was very personable. We stayed in the Castaway Isle room. This featured a ship's prow hanging overhead, with the bed upstairs, giving the illusion of sleeping in the boat. The jetted tub is in the middle of the room, which is a pro and con lol. The bathroom was nice, although the rather fancy vanity with the granite top, didn't really fit the deserted island decor. I always do a barefoot/sock test in hotel rooms, and this one passed with flying colors. My spouse's socks stayed white! Cons: While the theme room is fun, there are quite a few steps up to the bed. This could be a challenge for some. The tub in the middle of the room can also be a challenge to get in and out of. In our room, and a few other places, the hotel looks like it's starting to get a little shabby. We had patches of paint missing on the walls, the wooden blinds by the bed were broken, the shower head looked like they had cut the drywall around it incorrectly. To be fair, these issues might have been on a to do list, and with Covid hurting the hotel industry so badly, they might be behind on upkeep. We were also told that the owner paid the staff during the time the hotel had to be shut down because of Covid. Personally, this is one of the reasons I would definitely come back to this hotel, aside from the fun room themes. So to make a long review short-4.5 and we will definitely be back to try another room!
