NO FRILLSHappy with the accommodation that we received for the price we paid. Situated near the beach and on SH6 made it a good location. Would stay here again, friendly staff with recommendations on what to do.

Second night in the South Island.Got off the TranzAlpine train, picked up a rental car and went to our pre booked motel ( Flight Centre booking ) The motel is very dated, decor is aged and is out of town at Paroa. Hooked up to the wifi but it was very weak and kept on losing internet.

Comfy bed, no frills, cleanliness was not up to standardWe selected Charles Court based on price, location and onsite facilities. I will get the negative out of the way first. The unit was FILTHY and well below even minimum standards. Visable Mould, rust, dirt, dust and muck throughout the unit, musty smelling, food splats around the kitchen and bin and all over the dining chairs, oven was dirty, table top was dirty and food was stuck in all the grooves around the outside of the tabletop, TV had no remote, light shade in the bathroom was FULL of dead bugs, finger prints all over the mirror, one of the towels used after a shower reeked of heavens knows what but man it STUNK. The smell transferred onto my body afterwards which required another shower. Lots of noise out in the forecourt area, from what appeared to be an emergency accomodation/long term guests who were smoking out of their unit doors, and continually stared at us or opened curtains to watch what we were doing whenever we emerged from our unit which we found uncomfortable. Playground which has massive potential but needs some serious maintainence. The hot water in the shower was constantly going boiling hot and cold I think this was when the next unit were turning on their taps, really annoying when you just want to relax after a busy day. Otherwise, the bed was very comfortable, check in staff helpful and accommodating, not too far from town and main attractions etc, units were spacious and warm, lovely laying in bed listening to the roar of the sea nearby, no road noise, awesome pool and bbq area, good easy parking and excellent wifi reception.

Mr & Mrs SW & M RobinsonWe were very dissappointed with these motels Sadly the condition and management was shocking. We were booked for 5 nights, stayed 3, we should have left after the first. Some of the units are being hired by our government to house families permanently due to the housing crisis. These residents are noisy and inconsiderate, playing booming music until past 9pm,trailbike roaring around after dark, and young children running wild, squealing and shouting, when most of their age should be sleeping. There were noisy cars coming and going, from 4pm onwards till after dark. The last night we were there, there was fight outside 2 doors down, the language was dreadful, we felt really unsafe, and my husband was ready to ring police. We tried to raise Helen the manager 3 times to no avail. Found out next day she had left the office unattended to go to the staff christmas party!!!! Thankfully we were able to get another booking at the Assure Motels in High Street, Greymouth. These motels are excellent. The management Kevin and Lynda went all out to make up for our bad experience. We are retired folks who have worked all our lives, and saved hard for this small holiday, sadly it turned out to a frightening experience for us.
