Nice hotel with amenities aroundMy agent book this hotel for me and I was really impress with it because it was just located behind all the 8 main department of the weihuang chao. It was also near to the park with the totam. Behind this hotel there are is a morning market and I bought a bunch of banana. 10 mins drive down the road are a few shopping centers. The breakfast was good and the staff were frendily. There is also lots of brochure at the main hall for information to tour around changchun

This is the worst hotel I ever stayed in. I will NEVER return.I stayed in Changbaishan Chang bai shan hotel () 1448 Add:No.1448 Xinmin Road .Changchun on 26 to 27 December 2012. Travelling with tour group. The room/ every thing was super old and desperately in need of complete makeover/ renovation. Shower has some greenish substance on it. The wood of the furniture is peeling. Toilet is dirty. Towels are yellow and has a strange smell. My friend stayed in a room where the toilet leak. The house keeping staff keep insisting that the water was from the shower where no one has even bathed yet. Then when proven wrong, argue that this is a small matter! After a long argument, they finally change the rooms. The next day, she could not open her doors as the battery on electronic lock was flat which should have been detected and recitfied during the normal room make up. House keeping come up with excuse that they thought guest was sleeping and they did not disturb and did not make up room. Do not that the "do not disturb" sign was OFF! Do note that room was occupied by guest on tour group! Who would sleep the WHOLE day! They should have taken extra care given that guest already have unpleasant experience the day earlier. Given the attitude of these staff. I dont think anyone would realise if a person died in the room. Do note that we have other tour mates who experience problem with their toilets (flooding). They experience the same terrible service from the staff. I was told this is a four star hotel. It is unbelieveable how they get this rating. I will never stay in this hotel again. I do not know how to rate this hotel as my experience. Duty manager tried to do service recovery by offering a cup of tea and a fruit basket. Do note that there are 2 person staying in the room. Are they supposed to fight over a cup of tea! This is so funny.

Hotel Nightmare - place should be condemnedMy husband and I were recently in Changchun for four nights visiting family (and extended family). We had hoped to reserve at the Shangri-La but ended up booking at the Changbaishan Haighang (CBH) Hotel, not necessarily a decision of our own making, but that is a story for another day and another venue. The long and short of it - our stay at the hotel was miserable, yes miserable. I have never before used that word on TA to describe any hotel or accommodation to date, but trust me, it is well earned. Now, the entrance foyer and reception area at first glance was quite grand a large open space, marble/marble-like flooring, oversized cylindrical columns throughout, the sort of interior you would find in old fashioned railway hotels. And in its hay day (maybe 50 years ago or so), the CBH must have been quite imposing and impressive. But today, not so much. The place was dirty and unkempt with the marble floors used as ashtrays. Not exactly the first impression you would want to leave on incoming guests. But then again, I dont think that service excellence is the mantra of this establishment. Now, about the rooms. What a disaster! They were worn, torn, old, grimy, and dirty. Yes, all that. Paint was chipping, wall paper was peeling, plaster in the bathroom was crumbling from accumulated mold and mildew, carpets were badly stained (we wore slippers inside at all times, and NOT the ones provided by the hotel), bed sheets were discoloured, mysterious hair was strewn beneath the mattress pad (discovered while we were checking for bed bugs - and no, thankfully there were none), the original cream-coloured sofa in the living room area was grey and dingy, the countertops and all surfaces in the suite (including bedroom, living room, and bathroom) and even the hangers in the closet were sticky to the touch. Just filthy! Before unpacking our bags, we washed down everything with the hand towels. You should have seen the black grime left on the towels after we were done! We asked for additional linens and towels so we could sprawl them throughout the room, using towels to cover pillow cases and seating and additional sheets to put some distance between us and the mattress! Also, the air conditioning was loud and in some rooms, did not function at all. So we left our windows open during the night time to catch a refreshing breeze every now and then, while trying to lull ourselves to sleep to the incessant and blaring sound of honking horns. Could we have complained and asked for another room? Probably, but we decided that this would be a fruitless exercise as we were advised upon check-in that we were being assigned to one of the better suites. I could go on and on but that would involve reliving one of my worst hotel experiences EVER. Suffice it to say, the four-star rating assigned to the hotel is a colossal joke. If you are planning a trip to the area, and considering the CBH, do yourself a favour and think again. The hotel is an insult to the traveler and in my opinion, should be condemned. A harsh review? Absolutely. Well deserved? Without a doubt!
