  close to gongbei port

  My wife and i visit macau every year. this year, we decided to spend a couple of nights in zhuhai to allow ourselves ample time to explore their underground shopping. i booked changan hotel thru agoda and got an excellent 1-day hot sale deal. this property is a five star hotel, offering free breakfast buffet and free use of a well designed in-door pool. breakfast has a pretty good spread with fruit section.didnt notice any forigner here but majority chinese guests, breakfast catering to chinese dishes i.e. noodles nd congee, however, they do offer bread, pastries, and fried eggs. indoor pool is free of use. but steam bath and sauna come with a 68rmb fee. free room wifi, and has a desk top computer with webcam provided. our standard room was about 35 sq.meter but we were upgraded to a corner room which gave us 42 sq.meter. they have soothing foot spa for 88rmb. we had a 1-hour full body massage in our room for 138rmb, excellent after a tiresome trip. taxi to gongbei port will cost 10 to 12 rmb. however, coming back was a drag, because taxi drivers or private cars will charge a negotiated 30 to 40rmb 5 to 8 pm rush hour. hotel staff speak very limited english. surprisingly, their cantonese restaurant has excellent dishes with reasonable price, but menu only written in chinese. hotel surroundings dont have restaurants shopping, or groceries to go to. however, overall, this hotel catered to our needs.

  Disappointing China 5 Star

  2nd trip to Zhuhai. Therefore was unsure of where to stay this time. Previously stayed in ZhuHai Leisure. Someone suggested GongBei Area for good shopping. Stayed in the offer rooms with no windows. Thought it will be fine. Shocked at the condition of the room. 1) 6 power points in the room only 3 are working 2) When u turn on the master switch the door bell will ring. 3) Bathroom flood whenever showers and the water will take half a day to subside. 4) No Instant coffee available Informed front office and there was no offer to change rooms. Location - Far from the nice tourist area. Hard to get anywhere without a cab. Service staff not too friendly or accommodating. Almost missed my ferry to HKIA cause they can't get a cab in time for me. Breakfast at hotel is average. Usual China Fare. Wifi drops and does not connect well.

  Nice room n good location.

  I was there from 15 oct to 16 oct 2016. The room size is good. With a king size bed n still quite spacious. The bathroom is small but there are Tv in the toilet. No bath tub. Condition good enough. We go as a group n some of my friends has special encounter with invisible guest. They hear sound n voices in room. Anyway the room is good enough for me. The location is ok only. Breakfast is not good.

  Nice hotel

  Classy hotel underneath.... what I meant was at the lobby the setup looks like a Chinese classic hotel but if you go one floor down the world of entertainment is there. From karaoke rooms, and all sort of entertainments are there. The rooms are good and also the spa is value for the money and with affordable price tag. 2 nights of worthy stay...

  For the price this is NOT a 5 star hotel

  This was a quick arrangement and we figured with the name "holiday Inn" at the end of its name and being a 5 Star hotel it would be a great at 320¥ a night. To our shock it was not a bargain but I felt cheated. First thing which was clear it was not a Holiday Inn but I was called Zuhai Chang'an Holiday Hotel. Now the lobby was beautiful, something classical and not too bad. The location was in the middle of everything, shopping, tourist attraction and a park. When we arrived in our room we were welcomed by the smell of old cigarettes and dirty floors and bed sheets. We asked for another room but they said no because the other rooms where near a convention and it would be too noisy. The bathroom had make up left behind by another occupant and we where not happy that the housekeeping did not do their due diligence when cleaning the room. We called housekeeping and they came up right away to clean the room again. I will recommend the spa which is typical Chinese and good value. My partner and I had a joint massage and it was fun and relaxing. Then men are required to wear throw away underwear, not a problem but they don't come is a size bigger then 34 waist. The breakfast was the worst of all. If you are a foreigner then you are stuck with typical Chinese food (lunch and dinner). I like Chinese food but the food was cold and the selection was very poor. They did not have eggs, toast, yogurt or anything a typical westerners would want to eat. If you have the breakfast I suggest you eat somewhere else. Overall my rating is fare. The hotel staff was friendly and professional. They made me feel welcomed and did their best to accommodate us. But this is nowhere near a 5 start rating and should be removed from a luxurious hotel to a basic hotel. Internationally this deserves no more than a 3 star rating.
