  Chalet grande y tranquilo

  Nos encantó la estancia en este chalet, solo echamos de menos al personal de recepción no los vimos ni un día, había un cartel en la pared con un teléfono para contactar en caso necesario. Cuando llegamos había un papel diciéndonos el número de chalet que nos correspondía y al llegar estaba ocupado por otras personas. Logramos subsanar el error y las otras personas se fueron a su chalet (se habían equivocado de número y acababan de llegar). La estancia muy bien, la casa limpia, con barbacoa donde nos hicimos las cenas y el entorno muy tranquilo y bonito.

  Totally AWESOME cabins!

  We had a lovely cabin with a bathroom up and downstairs. Well appointed kitchen and condiments in the fridge. Loved every minute there. The views were AMAZING! Quiet time is 10PM and we were early risers so we appreciated that the neighbors mostly respected that. Would definitely recommend these. WIFI was awesome! Gas fireplace with timer was neat. No AC but we managed to hit the weather a little cooler. Did I mention it was CUTE, CUTE, CUTE! There was also lawn furniture on the deck, lovely flowers around the cabin. A short walk to the cabin depending on parking spot. Little place for an outdoor fire. Just a short walk from a glacier fed river/stream where they were camping and fishing. This is a good distance from Golden though and it was tough to find using Google. There are several roads called Kicking Horse. Get good directions from the owner rather than google.

  AVOID Chalet #11

  We were extremely disappointed to find that, despite booking 8.5 months ahead, we had been allocated a chalet that was right next to the parking place, had absolutely no privacy with other chalet dwellers continually walking within 3 feet of the chalet, often pulling noisy carts and no doubt being super happy they didnt have chalet # 11. To add to this there is another pathway behind the chalet with the same traffic. This meant that not a single window blind could be opened fully with possibly half of the kitchen window where the other half looked onto the wood wall of the next chalet. From the porch you looked onto the back of a shed or the parking lot. At night with all the comings and goings of other chalet guests to and from the parking place or rubbish bins etc, you were also restricted to moving about on the upper level without the light on as there were no curtains on the cathedral (normally great to have) windows. In addition this meant the orange lights of the parking place that shone all night, made the top level very bright and for those affected by light, difficult to sleep. The bed light didnt work either. To add insult to injury, the kitchen was poorly equipped. One pot was totally burnt with a thick deposit on the bottom, the two fry pans had long seen the last of their anti stick qualities and were so crooked they didnt sit properly on the stove (or maybe the stove plates were bent??). We ate off picnic plastic plates. The interior is as per the photos and is roomy which is nice and the bath was a good comfortable size. The hot water was sufficient to fill the bath. However on our last day there was no water - in any chalet!!! We messaged and knocked on Natashas door who lived on the property and heard nothing at all from her. Of course the lack of water was not her fault, but it would have been the minimum to expect her to advise us rather than to find out by asking other chalet guests if they had water. Her silence was deafening and why have an on the spot caretaker if they are never around?? Most alarming however was the visit of a bear on two nights (probably more often as they are habitual) It came on our veranda and knocked over a chair and the rubbish bin, but left the recycling bin standing. The next night the bear came again (at 4.15am) and ended up licking a BBQ dripping plate of a chalet behind us and emptying a trash can on another porch and exploring other chalets behind us. Obviously the trash cans and recycling bins on the porches are the attraction and the Chalet owners need to rethink their trash policy noted in their booklet (see photo). As a duty of care issue Id add that they need to advise the many overseas visitors of the dangers from bears more prominently than they currently do. Our advice to any prospective guest would be ascertain where your chalet is before booking. No doubt the chalets further away from the road and closer to the river are lovely / but whatever - AVOID Chalet #11

  Amazing views with rustic charm

  We had the pleasure of staying in Chalet 16, located in the far corner of the block. The large windows provide ample, natural lighting with stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountainscape. The natural logs throughout the interior really immerse you in this rustic cabin; while having the modern conveniences you would expect in your own home. Wifi is fast, kitchen well stocked, the fireplace is inviting, the beds are comfortable, and in the cold of January winter, the general ambiance wraps around you like a warm blanket.

  Valentines Disaster

  We booked two night for our valentines in chalet 16. Within two hours of arrival, the cockroaches starting scurrying on the kitchen counters. We contacted the hosts, who offered no resolution. We had no choice but to stay the night, hardly slept and left ASAP in the morning. It was not a clean cabin. Fighting for a refund. Buyer beware.
