  Great location but...not the greatest of places to stay

  We stayed in Chamonix A, did not know these condos were individually owned by other parties and just "sort of" managed by Austria Hof, so each unit is maintain differently. Stay your own risk. Kitchen was not really stocked well with basic things to cook with. Plates/glassware/silverware were chipped/mismatched. Broken door on microwave, cheap popup toaster. Numerous possible fire code violations - no GIF plugs in kitchen or bath, aluminum foil on burners and oven. fireplace flue would not close so unit was constantly cold. Missing towels and pillowcases, comforter was paper thin and dirty. Pullout couch, bed and bunk beds pads all were disintegrating foam pads. Front desk help was often times was not helpful. Not worth the bang for the buck.

  Chamonix Unit 91 False marketing, Cramped, Overpriced and Disappointing

  Our party of 4 was extremely disappointed to have picked this condo over several excellent ones in the area, for an equivalent or even lesser cost. Photos were extremely deceptive as regards size of condo. Total sq footage divided vertically into 3 floors. Main floor and lower floor with bedrooms were extremely cramped for 2 adult couples. Kitchen very cramped, with a nonfunctional oven. In bedrooms, beds were hard, there was no space to walk around the bed, one teeny side table, and a bulky useless chair with no space to get out of bed. Bathroom fixtures were shaky, installed unprofessionally, only a single set of towels in each bathroom, and outside spa in condo was not working. Mud room has a dangerous step that we almost fell over on. Most horrendous part was that we spent one night (out of two booked) in freezing cold (outside temp at 40F) as the only heat in the main living area FAILED to come on until 24 hrs later. Called host number upon arrival at 4.30pm, no response until 9pm. Maintenance was unable to fix, but owner sent vendor next afternoon at 3pm, after which we finally got heat. Owner also lied abt offering some wall heaters which as per her we declined (?), I am not even sure what she is talking about. Additionally, there was dog feces all over in the porch. Overall, this unit was very disappointing, and put a huge damper on our trip. It is way overpriced compared to other units in the area. Sadly, the owner did not make any effort to offer us a credit even. We will not be renting this unit ever, and suggest to stay away from losing $350/night!

  Absolutely loved it. It was nice, comfortable and fit 4 adults and 2 children easily. Our host made sure everything was clean, comfortable and nice. The pool area and recreation area was an added bonus. We really enjoyed our time here

  Security concerns - Chamonix #47

  The condo is accurately described on the airbnb listing. It is in a good location within walking distance of the Mammoth Lakes Village shops and is also on the (free) bus route. The apartment was fairly clean. Communication was swift and friendly until we reported that our passports had gone missing from the condo. There is no safe in the apartment so we recommend all future visitors take their valuables with them. We cannot recommend the host as she offered us no support after we had discovered the theft. We were left to sort out contacting the police, the British consulate and numerous other agencies ourselves, which took a while, as we had to discover what to do in these circumstances. She did not send any of the in-town managers (as listed on the apartment details) to meet with us despite us asking her for advice. The only other communications received from the owners were requests to leave the condo as we were holding up the cleaning for the next occupants. We left the condo leaving over 4 hours for the cleaners to prepare for the next guests. The owner made no effort to discover whether we had managed to arrive home safely or indeed showed any concern for our plight. We sent her a message after we arrived back home which was ignored.

  Beware of Bed Bugs!!!!!

  We stayed at #79. The condo looked clean and we were so happy with it at first, but during our first night there, my husband was attached by bed bugs, he was covered in clusters of bites on his forehead, arms, back, and chest! We had a sleepless night and the worst of all, we had our baby with us. I didnt know till later on the second day that I got bit, too (as bed bug bites might not appear till the second day)! I had about 12 bites! Needless to say we had to scramble and move to another accommodation ASAP but unfortunately due to Fourth of July, we only was able to find a room in Westin for one night. So we had to cut our cation from 5 days 4 nights to 3 days 2 nights. After we discover the bites, We reached out to the management the very next morning, at first she said they look like mosquito bites...we are avid outdoor people and know what mosquito bites look like. She sent her husband to come by and he was nice about it and said he wants to make it right. but it took him an hour to came back with a solution, which was its ok that we cancel the rest of our stay, but they want to still charge us for the night we stayed in. This is ridiculous if you ask me. Thank goodness my baby did not get any bites because she slept in her portable crib. If she did, I would not have left without a fight. Just a warning, bed bugs are very hard to get rid of and they travel. Room to room. Unless they do extermination for the entire building, I would not stay there, ever.
