  Not a 4 star hotel. Not covid safe.

  The pictures online looked great but, like many other reviewers here, I didnt find the reality to match the price point. The jr king suite was darkly lit, the website did not clarify this is an upstairs room without a balcony, there were very old single pane windows with bird poop and cobweb accents, a stained soap dish, the sheet on the bed was a loose flat sheet not bothered to be tucked in, the linens were cheap and rough, and the "lint" leavings from housekeeping's cleaning rags were plainly visible on a nightstand. Basic standards were not enforced: we had to breathe facefuls of secondhand cigarette smoke twice, the pool was packed with families, and other guests were walking around the property without masks. I wonder why this is the first hotel that has made me sign a covid-19 liability waiver.. While we did enjoy the trail onsite, it was the only safe amenity available to us for a $37 "resort" fee and we still passed one woman who made no effort to mask up around us. Coffee in the room was undrinkable and the machine was dirty. $100+ firepit reservations helped cinch this place as a cash grab for the Benchmark hotel group. Despite the pretty photos and a location nestled in nature, Chaminade did not deliver to our expectations. We elected not to patronize the restaurant or bar. Luckily there are plenty of great restaurants close by.

  Nestled in the Woods Gem!

  I found out about Chaminade through an offer from Travel Zoo. I had never heard of them even though I have lived on the Monterey Peninsulas my entire life. (65 years) I decided while in the Covid-19 pandemic, I wanted my husband and I of 42 years, to be able to go on a little get away for our 42nd anniversary. I didn't want to fly due to the pandemic, so I decided we would try out this resort in our very own backyard. WOW! What a surprise! So close and yet never heard of. The Resort was lovely! The staff was very friendly! The terrace restaurant, The View, was absolutely beautiful! The outdoor setting with views of the Santa Cruz Mountains along with the ocean was such a lovely view for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Social distancing was definitely in place. The food was fabulous! On Sunday, while enjoying Brunch they unexpectedly had a live band. It's was fabulous! I would definitely return and recommend to our family and friends. By the way, it is so close to downtown Capitola and it's beach. Gayle's Bakery too!!!

  COVID Getaway

  My Best Friend and I were getting stir crazy, cabin fever and all things 'shelter in place' related. So I had a great idea to get away and what better place than the Chaminade Resort & Spa in Santa Cruz? The View restaurant has the most UH-MAAAAAZINNG view! We also had INCOMPARABLE customer service from the Great Kathleen! She was the trifecta of the hospitality industry...kind, competent and efficient!

  Serene place in the Forest

  We chose this place because it said it was children friendly. Its not too far from the freeway or the boardwalk, only about 15 minutes but a nice place to stay. The lobby is a little far from the entrance. Lots of privacy and The views and location of thi resort are beautiful however the rooms are a bit older.

  Amazing Location and Service

  Shane, Kathleen and Nectar all provided top level service for a great stay here. Amazing views and nature, couldn't of asked for anything more. The View restaurant indeed has a great view, wonderful food and drinks. The art work around the entire resort is well thought out and includes the fun of family style games. There is a large fire pit to roast s'mores in, bocce ball, and abacuses on the bedframes! We did a one night stay as as Santa Cruz locals and enjoyed it so much that we decided stay another night the following weekend.
