  Lovely hotel

  We enjoyed the stay, it was very clean! The pool was lovely, overall excellent value for money. Sitting approximately 5k from Calvi it feels quite peaceful in comparison. There are tracks out to go running straight from the hotel and a scenic view of the mountains!

  A bit remote

  The location of the hotel was about 5km drive from the town of Calvi in a sort of semi-industrial area. We had a little difficulty finding it with our gps. The man who checked us in was rather unfriendly. There is no restaurant in the hotel so it is necessary to drive some distance for dinner and there is nothing in the immediate area. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The ensuite was nice and large with a good shower and the air conditioning worked well. It was good to be able to get towels for the pool from reception. The pool area is pleasant and the pool very clean but it was not heated and the water was very cold even though the weather was hot. Couldn't stay in very long. There is free parking close to the hotel. Reception is closed at night so you have a key to let yourself in after hours. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment.

  Nice and quiet

  We booked this place primarily because of its location, that is outside the hustle and bussell of Calvi. Other than that the place is decently average. Not having a restaurant Diminishes its appeal but other than that the place is spotless, the personnel helpful and the amenities more than adequate. The fact that this place has a nice pool is great particularly on hot day. This place is fine for a one night stay or as a base to visit the surrounding region.

  Out of town

  This hotel is out of the town and in a rural location, which is just what we were looking for, I would say that some form of transport is required as the hotel does not have a restaurant and there are none in walking distance, but we were aware of this and had a car so this was not any concern for us. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and we could get through with using English, lazy I know, but our French is not that good. The rooms are of a high quality, we choose a standard room as this was the cheapest, it had a large double bed and an ensuite shower room with WC and sink. A good sized wardrobe and plenty of clothes hangers. The standard rooms dont have a balcony, but again we knew that, and the view out of our window was of the mountains which was stunning. You can get breakfast for an additional cost of 10 each, this is a continental style with the usual pastries, meat, cheese, bread, fruit salad there was an egg boiler and toaster, jams, juice and a coffee machine and tea bags, with a choice to eat this inside or by the pool. The hotel has two swimming pools, the smaller one was a bit warmer, the pool was clean and the area around also. There is a bar at the pool side it was usually open from mid afternoon when we were there, there are plenty of sun beds and shade if required. The rooms were cleaned every day. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room, we took our small kettle with us. There is a TV in the room but only one bbc channel in English but we were not there to watch TV. Free WiFi in the hotel and rooms. Air conditioning in the rooms. We thought this was a very good hotel and a good place to stay for us, quiet and out of the way, this may not suit everyone though. There is a small airport near the hotel and there are planes coming in and out during the day, none at night, but not continuously, this did not bother us.

  Need a lesson in hospitality

  We booked this hotel through hotels.com, booking a double plus single bed room so that we could have two separate beds and a larger room than the standard basic room. When we arrived we were given a basic double room and were told that they had no record of a booking for the room we specified and that the price we paid was for the basic room. In spite of not being able to move us due to no vacancy, they refused to consider any steps to help our situation, including refusing to phone hotels.com, which we had to do. The hotel offered no compensation (we would certainly have considered an offer of complimentary breakfast, for example) but fortunately hotels.com did offer some. The lady at reception was not in the slightest concerned by all this, hence we feel that these people need to learn a bit about hospitality. Incidentally this same lady pretended not to speak English when hotels.com wanted to discuss this with her. We heard her speak perfectly adequate English to some other guests. It is a pity as in many ways the hotel is quite good - modern, clean, nicely designed, except for the uncomfortable foam mattress bed. The basic room was very small.
