The worst experienceThe place is old, ugly, dirty. I arrived and they told me they didn't have a key because it got lost, and that I should wait for a roommate to open it for me. The smell is horrible, and there are crockroaches everywhere, even in the kitchen. Hair, stickiness and dust in the bathroom. Danger of fire in the rooms because of dozens of cable cords and extentions connected everywhere. Window can't be closed because of the aircon connection. Surroundingss full of prostitutes and homeless people. Stay away!

Extremely rude & unacceptable owner manager who didn't care about cleanliness, pest infestation & air con temperature!Kitchen had no fly screen with rubbish overflowing garbage bags/bin (if bin exists). Owner manager didn't empty bins (in rooms, toilets & kitchen) daily. ALL Kitchen utilities covered with thick layer of dust, flies, mosquitoes & cockroaches everywhere due to rubbish not emptied or removed! Owner only attended the hostel twice daily (at checkin time & around sunset time daily). He had our room's air con turned on when he arrived at sunset time till next day (checkin time), leaving the room too cold at night but no air con during day time in hot Summer time. I found the remote in our room but he took it & not allowing us to adjust the air con temperature even when complaints were made by guests. He even took my only blanket away leaving me with no blanket at cold temperature from air con at night. When I called him to request to turn off air con one night, he picked up the phone but ignored request then hang up the calls (on his mobile & office phone). When complained about inappropriate temperatures of air con in our room due to varient daily temperatures, I got told to "PISS OFF" & go stay at the Hilton Hotel instead !!

Best thing about this place: when we leftHaving read a few reviews, me and my friend thought this place would be fine for our stay in Sydney. I really wish we had not only focused on the positive reviews, and that we had taken the bad ones serious. First impressions were fine enough, the reseptionist was nice and she showed us to our rooms. Which were awfull. Mold everywhere, the walls and windows were dirty and I dont think our sheets had even been cleaned. My friend had a big spot on hers. After staying there a while, both of us experienced trouble breathing (and I do believe that to be because the air had become almost toxic to the mold). I am writing this review for the people who might believe the bad reviews are exaggerated. They are not. If your happy with a cheap place to live (and dont care that much about everything else), go for it. But if not, your money is better spent somewhere else. Me and my friend had booked for three nights, but did not spend more than a couple of hours there. And it turned out to be the best decision we made, as we got to experience Sydney without the risk of becoming sick.

Get what you pay forObviously the rooms aren't going to be anything fancy and you should expect to get what you pay for. I stayed one night in a double room with a private bathroom and it was pleasant enough. Close to allot of attractions and transport.
