Well situated for exploring ProvenceWe arrived late at night. Fortunately, I called ahead to warn them. The son of the owners spoke perfect English. I was grateful for this since I was struggling with my limited French. He gave me the code to the door and our key was on the desk at the entrance. There is a flight of steps to the front door. We climbed another flight of steps to reach our room. So if you have an issue with climbing stairs with luggage, you may want to consider staying elsewhere. For us, the accommodations were comfortable. We had a view of the mountains from our room which was nice. The breakfast was fine, what one expects at little hotels like this. We ate our dinners at St Remy, a nearby town where Van Gogh lived in his later years. It really is a small town. We spent our time exploring Aix-en-Provence, Marseilles and other little quaint villages. The hotel' location is ideal.

A reasonable place for the areaWhat makes a difference is that it is a privately run hotel and you will have the opportunity to discuss with the owner. It is not the hotel de charme you want, but it is more reasonably priced than others in the area and you can walk from there to the various amenities and shops of Maussane. If you want it simple, it is your choice. Soundproofing can be much better

QuietWe were the only guests, I believe. Almost too quiet. Friendly owner and host made a lovely breakfast and most helpful. As sunny and kind of warm even October we used the pool - no need for shadow offered by the patio.

Comfortable and good valueSpent two nights here but could have spent longer. Convenient location set back a little way off the road, and our room (12) had nice views over the pool area, garden and further south to the Tours de Castillon. Comfortable king-size bed and a balcony - we bought dinner from O Potager de Lisa and ate on the balcony on our second night having had a disappointing meal in town on the previous night. The bathroom could do with a bit of refurbishing, but the shower worked ok. Soundproofing not brilliant, but hotel nowhere near full so it wasn't a problem. Booking process efficiently managed prior to our trip. Owner/manager friendly and helpful and apologetic for not being able to speak English. Roman site at Glanum (near St Remy) very interesting. I quite liked Maussane as it is not too touristy, but it is unfortunate in having a busy road right through the middle of it so the main restaurants are quite noisy.

Charming CastillonThis is a special treat away from home! Great hotel, charming staff, delightful room, well-equipped bathroom and a cute garden to look at from our window! Good breakfast too! Definitely recommend and hope to return soon!
