  Excepcional

  Muy bonito. Atención excepcional por parte de los dueños. Desayuno inmejorable. Ofrecen productos de la tierra, mozzarela recien hecha, y fruta ecoligica. Todo muy nuevo y muy limpio. Altamente recomendable. Muy tranquilo y cerca de poblaciones preciosas.

  Home away from home

  We stayed 5 nights with Emilio and Marielle and our experience did not differ from what other reviewers said. Excellent location if you are driving as you dont have the hassle of historic city parking. Great to get in and out of for day tripping or quick evening meal in San Vito or Polignano. Nice and spacious accommodation, clean, and delicious breakfasts of a high standard for Italy, local produce and skillfully handmade items by Marielle. The best part was the impeccable and genuine hospitality and care by both the hosts. Other places could and should learn from these two. We had a fabulous time in the area because of this. Highly recommended without hesitation.

  HIDDEN GEM

  After spending two weeks in Italy and eating horrendous breakfasts, we didnt expect much coming to Casal Porto Contessa. Wow were we surprised! The hotel itself is stunning and a labor of love. Rooms are spacious and gorgeous with bunkbeds in each room aside from the king sized bed, a fridge and patio; the suites have kitchenettes included, and THE. BREAKFAST. Emilio made a point of saying that everything is fresh. One dish in particular made with ricotta was in the cows udder 1 hour ago Im not sure if he was joking, but my wife and I agree that everything was a scrumptious Italian gourmet of in house cooking, fresh from the stove. I swear angels sang with every bite. This incredible morning feast had us going till dinner. The breakfast alone was enough reason to visit, but when you factor in the rooms and grounds, this deserves 20 stars, not 10. Superb Emilio and Marielle!

  It does not correspond to reality

  Nothing published in the website corresponds to reality. The place is not finished, it is under construction and the "garden" does not exist nor the swimming pool. The room is ok, nothing special, there is a water heater in the bathroom, but it is not enough, the second person having a shower has the water cold. Each room has a terrace but there is no privacy at all, all the terraces are communicated so you are "with the neighbour" sharing the same space. There is no breakfast room and brakfast is served in the terrace ( February 8.30 in the morning, 8 degrees, was not very plesant). Not very well planned and served. Breakfast consists on some cold pizza and some sweet things , not home made except some cheese. Tea was impossible to drink. The access is quite difficult, the place is in the middle of a field and there is no road but a rural narrow access. Too expensive for what it offers.

  The best welcome in Italy

  From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were made to feel like old friends returning by Emilio, Mariella and their family. This wonderful and genuine family ensured that we had a fantastic few days stay with them. The room was delightful with the most comfortable of beds. At night, there is total silence and we slept really well. The center of Polignano is just a few minutes drive away and around 30 minutes from Bari airport. Now, dear reader, I come to the breakfast. We had read reports regarding Mariella's breakfast but nothing could have prepared us for what we received. It completely went beyond any expectations. On our delightful private terrace we were served delicious meats, cheeses (including fresh burrata, mozzarella & ricotta), Mariella's homemade caponata made with vegetables fresh from Emilio's garden, fresh fruits, croissants with pistachio cream, pasticiotti (a traditional Puglian sweet delicacy. But the highlight was Mariella's fresh baked breads and savory items served warm from the oven. So delicate and very delicious. My one regret is that I have such a poor command of the Italian language as I would have loved to have spent more time in conversation with this adorable family. We have traveled extensively in Italy (more than 30 times) and this structure was up there with the best of them. The family are passionate about their business and genuinely want to ensure that you have a wonderful stay. We have already booked our flights for next June and we will once again return to the Casale Porto Contessa. Until then, Emilio, Mariella and family, stay safe and God bless.
