You get what you pay for........

We stayed here because it was cheap. It is not easy to find - you walk down the driveway behind the bakery - there is a sign for this place but the building it is on is no the building. Keep walking down the driveway, follow the road down, there is no sign - but the building on your left, by memory with plants on either side and steps up to it - there is no indication which button to press - just press the top one and if you see a nun at the front counter you're in the right place - I wish someone had given these instructions for us! Long story short - there is no air-conditioning although they advertise they have it. An open door to the balcony is it but the room is clean, the shower is a shub with a handheld shower-head. My bed was ok but my partner said his bed was the hardest he had ever slept on. There were many factors why we chose this place - English speaking was one of them - alas no! Only between the hours of 8am-4pm while we were there - that was only when English was spoken, we arrive at 2030 - Drama ensued. Frankly, they need to read who is booked in - if there are people arriving from the Southern Hemisphere - it would be a miracle if they spoke fluent italian - the check in was the worst I've ever experienced. I'm sure it was just as traumatic for the italian speaking, only, nun too. It might bother some - we didn't care so much - the doors are locked at 2300 at night. So there is a curfew. Breakfast is mainly 80% packaged. We didn't enjoy it. You have to leave your key with them every time you leave the building. It is about a 3km walk to the Vatican - message me if you want the most direct route. It appears via Aurelia is on a bus route - we didn't dare experience that but could be handy for some. I recommend the bakery & pizzeria in front of the hotel - food is magnifico! FYI Nuns are loud too - it wasn't that quiet at night-time! We have treated this as a learning experience. I would never come here again if we were ever in Rome again but that doesn't mean it's all bad.

    Average

I went to Rome on a school trip and the organizers decided that we would stay at this convent. Finding the place first of all was a bit of struggle as it was behind a bakery. It was in a back street which made it unclear to find. The nuns were fairly nice but were quite rude and loud at some points. I stayed in a double room and the size of the room and the bathroom were okay. The bedroom had two beds, drawers, two huge wardrobes, a desk and a balcony. The room was relatively cold and there was no heating. The bed was comfortable to sleep in but the blanket was so thin that you couldn't keep warm. The walls were very thin and you could hear everything. Every morning before you left for the city the nuns would ask for they key which was annoying. The breakfast was below average and there was a limited choice. There was a hot drinks machine and even that tasted odd. There was a curfew of 11pm as they locked the doors. When I arrived back to my room I noticed they had done the beds, given fresh towels and organized your clothing on the bed. It was nice as they had cleaned the room up a bit but I was a bit unsure about them specifically cleaning up my things. The shower pressure was high which was good but the water temperature kept fluctuating and even with a little turn the water would drop or increase significantly. The whole accommodation was very clean and there was a nice cosy loby and seating room with a cheap vending machine. Despite the bad things, I do recommend this place to stay at because it is cheap, clean, location is good and near the metro.

    Honest

I stayed at Piccole Ancelle di Cristo Re twice recently and for me it was perfect. My preference was for a place which was a peaceful oasis in a busy city and everything was the way I like it - plain and honest - there was no glitz but everything you would need is there..Everyone I met was very friendly and helpful so that I felt at home. Whenever I needed a taxi , it was always ordered so that it came to the door. My flight on my first visit was delayed so I arrived a day late and they were so good to me about it. The Sisters are lovely and I would definitely stay there again.

    Absolutely Excellent

This hotel is absolutely excellent. I would recommend it anytime. Although it is located in the neighborhood slightly away from the historical center of the city, the hotel is just two blocks away from a metro station (from which you can reach all historical landmarks in about 20'). Breakfast is abundant and of good quality, made every day. The hotel is extremely clean, has heating and air-conditioning in all rooms, and hot water comes out abundant in the shower. Rooms are very big and count with everything you need (including wifi). Needless to say that both the nuns running the place and all the people working therein are extremely helpful, kind and friendly. I would definitely come back to this hotel.

Rude old nun ruined my last day

I went for a walk and came back ten minutes before checkout. The nun working there more or less told me my stay had ended and I couldn't enter the room. Took me a while to explain I'm checking out at that time and just needed to get my luggage. She was very rude telling me to leave (pointing aggressively at the entrance) right after I gave her the key. Would not recommend if you don't know any Italian. The food was generous but subpar. I could easily make better pasta and meat than their kitchen. In a city with wonderful cheap food like Rome, it'd be much better to eat out.
