A complete delight start to finishMy wife and I stayed at the Carrington for two nights in February and I must admit, original reservations about the heritage listed hotel were quickly removed. The hotel has an old worldly charm about it that can only be presented by such a venue with so much history. The hotel was almost fully booked and we were lucky to get a room, however the bathroom was located down the hall. Any fears are soon abated when each of these style of rooms has their own keyed bathroom. This adds to the old worldly charm and was also kind of fun. I think next time we will try for one of the ensuite rooms too. It is clear that the owners have gone to great lengths to continue the service and decor befitting such a grand hotel, sadly slowly being removed from our landscape. The staff have been a delight without exception, knowledgeable and friendly. On our first night we dined in the house restaurant and were not disappointed in the slightest. The food and Staff were excellent as you would expect and the whole experience was outstanding. The second night we dined at the Old City Bank Bar and Brasserie (in the grounds) which was also a delight. Afternoons on the front verandah or in the lounge area of the hotel were a nice way to pass the time and the Hotel is walking distance to the centre of town. We loved our stay and cant speak highly enough of the Carrington Hotel.

Grand Old LadyWe recently stayed here for second time, and were very happy both times. Sure, it is not a 5 star hotel, and does show a few signs of wear in some places, but we love it here. Our Colonial room was spacious and well appointed and clean. The staff here are great, very friendly and helpful. Our dinner in the grand dining room was very good, and the Devonshire tea is to die for, best scones ever ( better than another well known Medlow Bath hotel ) with generous amounts of cream and excellent jam. Cocktails in the bar were also very good .Cannot wait for our next stay !

Interesting hotelI recently stayed at the hotel for 3 nights .. lovely room on the 3rd floor . We had a 3 night stay in February. With the cost of these rooms I do feel a coffee machine could be installed.. instant coffee is more a motel standard product. Breakfast is included in the rate.. on the first day the fruit was sub standard.. brown pineapple and too hard kiwi fruit.. it was not much better on the other two days.. I can cope with poor quality fruit..though there is lots of good fruit available in February It was the coffee that was the real problem... it was almost undrinkable being weak and bitter. We did order a coffee from the menu however , that really was not much better as it as almost cold when it arrived. I certainly recommend a stay at the Carrington.. it has so much going for it.. lovely front desk staff , great location and close to everything one needs... it was just small things that left it down.. good coffee is a great way to start a day. One other small issue is the door to the lift....of course this is a heritage lift however, would it be possible to make the front door a little easier to open.. ? I use the stairs however, my husband has a issues with his hands and he just could not open the door easily.. there were other older folk having the same problem Thank you

Wonderful trip back in time .. with comfortIts the sort of place you would like to be seen having a high tea or cleansing ale on the balcony and be part of late Victorian era. The hotel is like a faded dame but nonetheless a real dame. Service is attentive and cheerful. Bed is probably the most comfortable Ive had in a hotel. But more so it is truly visit to a quirky Victorian era... so comfortable and so odd: Its a place to explore with reading rooms, raised dining areas etc. Food offering is from Gormet to everyday at sensible prices. It is close to restaurants. It is creaky but magnificent ! Ill be back There is nowhere like this place... put into your bucket list.

Very bad serviceWas just going for lunch at my usual restaurant at Carrington. I have been there many times with our dogs. This time we were told to leave. They said that dogs were never allowed. I live in katoomba I have been here many times with my dogs. He also professed that I will not find any restaurants in katoomba that will allow dogs outside the restaurant. What gets me is his open face lies. It is not true that dogs are not allowed on the grounds of the hotel. Neither is it true that other restaurants dont fo it either. Katoomba is a dog friendly place. Many owners enjoy eating outside with their dogs in their favourite restaurants. Needless to say carrington has been stuck off my my list now. They are Rude and they lie. Which is highly unacceptable. For the management the manager on duty was on today lunch time. Monday, 15th March. 2921 the receptionist also said she has never witnessed dogs eating outside a restaurant before either. One wonders where she has been hiding, under a rock? Such bold faces lies. Dont like this place anymore.
