Our booking was cancelled due to Covid but they wont give us a refundWe had a booking for June which was cancelled as the B&B was closed due to Covid. Carraw have steadfastly refused to give us a refund claiming you booked on a non refundable basis. All the other B&Bs and hotels we had booked in the area gave us prompt refunds whatever basis we had booked on. The matter is now being dealt with by our credit card company. I suggest you avoid this place in the current uncertain situation

The perfect experience in an ideal spotWe only booked up at the last minute after cancelling a trip to France and stayed six days. We felt so lucky to have chosen Carraw b& b. In every way, our visit was just what we hoped it would be. It is out in the wilds but effectively sitting almost on top of Hadrians Wall so lots of big views, wonderful walking territory and a great centre for visiting archeological sites to view what impressive people the Romans were two thousand years ago. Several of the sites are within a few minutes drive and leave one amazed by how big and well structured life was in those times. Vindolanda particularly so, a township of an estimated 4000 people of which about 1000 were soldiers and the rest family members and others drawn to live in their ambit. We were accommodated in the Lodge which is a separate, only five year old stone building although from the outside it looks like an old stone building, but inside is modern, light and airy with large sized rooms. The overall feeling was one of plenty of space which in current times is rather comforting. We had a room with large windows facing south and west so what little sun there was we had and could see as far as the very distant horizons. All mod cons and a large excellent en-suite bathroom. Breakfast was in a communal dining room on the ground floor and was very well arranged. The way it works is that due to the current Covid issues, each room was asked to pre-select a 15 minute time-slot to arrive for breakfast and to pre-order both the cold breakfast items and the hot cooked ones. So when you arrived at the agreed time, all the cold items were on a table so you knew where to sit and as far as possible was away from those who had just arrived or were shortly to do so. It struck us as an excellent way of minimising close contact between different groups of visitors. The breakfasts were first class in quality and variety and the serving staff delightful. We would love to return and hopefully will do so.

Good ChoiceWe stayed for 2 nights. The bedroom and public areas were immaculate the bed was so comfy.... Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was a problem to the owners. Amazing views. Would return sometime.

Amazing!!Recently spent 3 wonderful nights at this amazing B & B. What an experience! Absolutely spotless accommodation from entering the hallway, dining room and bedroom. Breakfast each morning was fantastic as was the host, Leah, who could not do enough for us. Views were stunning as was the whole area. Also have to mention the lovely chickens!! Looking forward to visiting again.

Lots of room and character but one serious shortcoming.Remote but beautiful setting on Hadrians Wall. Very pleasant and accommodating hostess. Our room was large and well equipped with a large, modern bathroom and shower and stunning view. Beds were very comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Only two negatives. Pressure of tight timings for check in and out. More seriously, the heating went off at night so the room became very cold. I was unable to shower in the morning because the bathroom, heated only by a towel rack which also switched off at night, was still uncomfortably cold by the time we had to parade for breakfast.
