    Excellent Service

Very good and helpful staff. We were collected from and dropped off at the Post bus stop at the beginning and the end of our stay. This hotel-pension is very quiet and positioned for easy access to the bicycle trails and is a short walk to catch the ferry to St Wolfgang. Based on our 3 night stay, the top floor (3rd) was the pick for the best room. All rooms have a balcony but the 1st floor room we had for the first two nights was smaller than the night on the third floor. (Which also had a separate toilet!) Wi-Fi was excellent and easily connected. Safe and secure storage for bicycles. Set menu meals were all pretty average with no choice of menu.

    Excellent!

Excellent, helpful stuff, with spacious, clean room and good breskfast and dinner. The place is in the midle -between hallstatt and bad ischle and it was our base for a 3 days...the weather was also sunny which was unespectable for 20Th of December..pure luck .the countryside is beautiful - lots of lakes..more the 70, and all area is surrounded by the high hills of the mountines...

    Old style but new rooms

The hotel looks like having had a long history. We arrived and were approached by two old persons not speaking english. They were gentle though. Rooms are very new, wide and clean. No wellness area in the hotel, they have a private beach in the nearby lake (at 1000 mt more less) Food, in the half board, was very basic

Basic but good location - if you have a car

First thing to note is that the Carossa is NOT in St Gilgen or even near.. it is located in Abersee - in the countryside a few miles away from St Gilgen so you need a car to get here. The location itself is fine though - nice and quiet away from the main road and not too far to the small short ferry crossing to St Wolfgang . The hotel itself is a bit basic and old fashioned and could do with remodelling. However it served me very well for a base for visiting the towns around Wolfgangsee, Traum see and Mondsee - so locationwise fine. Parking easy outside the hotel. An OK breakfast is included in the rate - although strangely enough you are allocated your own table in a different part of the dining room each day! I think you may also be able to eat there in the evening although I never tried it. Overall it was fine.. not the most luxurious hotel but still offering ok value in a good area.

A little remote and in a town with limited facilities

You can pre-order dinner otherwise the hotel only does breakfast and note you are seated by room number! Secure parking for our bicycles (we were cycling around the Salzkammergut). The hotel is part of a well spread out collection of guesthouses and private homes - more of a rural district than a town. Nearest town is a good 7 or 8 kilometres away so be prepared the ride a lot or have access to a car.
