  Superb but with a few tweaks could be outstanding

  Stayed for one night. Staff friendly, food excellent, room clean and spacious. Good location. No moans at all but we payed £255 B&B and the couple of little things Id expect for this money are; tissues in room/bathroom, a fridge for keeping water cold, no offer of newspaper in the morning (I forgot to ask but receptionists at good hotels usually prompt these sort of things) and a powerful shower. Hotel branded umbrellas (theyre missing an advertising opportunity here!). As I say little tweaks but nothing that spoiled our stay. I forgot to mention the cracked tile in the bathroom on checkout . Too many dogs for our liking but thats a personal thing. Would recommend.

  Return visit after 4 years

  We have recently had a five night stay at the Captains club and we had a fantastic time, we originally booked a three night stay in an apartment room which had a couple of issues but Juliet, Nikki and Tim sorted them out to our satisfaction, we then decided to extend our stay by two nights, unfortunately the room we had wasnt available but again Nikki and Juliet went above and beyond to juggle rooms so that we didnt have to move rooms twice in two days, the food was great a special mention to Harry and Valter who were excellent, all in all a fantastic stay, a couple of small things need updating but I understand that a renovation is planned. We will definitely be back!

  Great for families with older children

  We love this place! Weve been several times and the brilliant atmosphere and friendly staff never fail to disappoint. We have two teenage daughters and love the flexibility of the suite apartments so that everyone has their own room and we have communal space with the living room and kitchen to enjoy. Also fabulous that we can take the dog too! The breakfast is highly recommended and the dinner menu is delicious too. Location is fabulous with lots of lovely restaurants and bars to enjoy in Christchurch as well as further afield. Plus great beaches on your doorstep. Well definitely be back!

  Lost a loyal customer

  Like so many others leaving reviews- I was disgusted to receive a parking fine visiting the hotel for lunch. I have been to the hotel many times both personally and at corporate events. The hotel leases this car park is making money from this. I had a lovely relaxed lunch followed by drinks with a friend and only realised when I left that I had gone over my ticket time by 20 minutes. The fine is £60 or £100 if not paid promptly. I assumed the parking was run by the hotel and they would appreciate the fact that I stayed and spent more money with them, having a drink after lunch. I did contact the hotel by phone and email and they essentially wash their hands of the process. The appeal process is impersonal and final with no discussion. If you independently appeal you have to pay the £100 if rejected. I cant believe the hotel continues with the parking in this way . They have lost loyal customers in a time that they cannot afford to be complacent. I can understand you dont want people just visiting the area using the car park but genuine customers are being insulted by this process .

  Birthday weekend

  We stayed here for a weekend and had a fabulous time in a great room or rooms . We had a room with a great view of river and our son had his own room and bathroom. There was a well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge/ dining area. When we arrived at our room a nice touch was the birthday greeting from the hotel and beautiful decorated plate with fresh fruit. We ate at the hotel the first night and had excellent food as was the breakfast. The staff were very helpful and friendly from James on reception to the waiters , housekeeping and front of house . Will definitely go back a great destination.
