Walking At NightWe recently stayed 5 nights at the Canopy by Hilton in the Pike & Rose neighborhood. The hotel lists a parking structure. Unfortunately, you have to walk around the block to enter the hotel. It was a bit concerning walking at night. Also, on the weekend the parking spots available were on upper levels. So this is not the best situation. Also, the rooms are very modern with concrete floors. These can be slippery getting out of the showerand our shower leaked. The room itself had a desk chair and a chaise. I think two comfortable chairs would work better. The hotel provides a nespresso machine in the room. It makes tiny cups of not very good espresso. I would recommend going back to a Kuerig coffee maker. And lastly, there is no microwave. I always prefer staying at Hilton's - my preference is a Hilton Garden Inn.

Do Not Book 3rd PartyThe front desk service is very disappointing. Arriving late at night, they tell me the power for the room was out. Instead of simply booking me another hotel stay, they said I would need to cancel the stay, get reimbursed, and book another hotel with fees that were much more expensive. They used the fact that I booked through a third party as an excuse for not being able to contact me and not housing me at another location. They upgraded my room, but it only has more windows. The night the power went out put me in a terrible predicament, and the hotel's front desk did not help nor appear to make the effort to rectify the situation. On top of that, the $25/night parking fees have not helped. Will not book this hotel again. I have not felt less welcomed at any other hotel.

Absolutely no flexibility during a pandemicThe interior was very nice but not as upscale as I expected compared to the exterior of the hotel. I had a 2 queen corner premium city view room and although the view was impressive, the room itself was on the small side. I am writing this review because of the nightmare I had to go through to book my room. On the morning of my stay, one of my friends that I was going with experienced a health emergency and was unable to make the trip so we decided to call everything off. But when I called the hotel, the very unfriendly lady at the front desk said that due to their cancellation policy I would not be able to cancel a reservation or get any of my money back. At any other period in time, I would understand that there is a policy to follow, but it is very inappropriate that during a PANDEMIC I was given absolutely no flexibility with my reservation. I then called another department at the hotel and they told me the same thing so I gave up and decided to just not show up. A few hours later, I was able to find another friend to accompany me so I decided to make the most of it and continue on with my trip. I assumed that there are a lot of empty rooms in the hotel so I called Hilton Honors (not the hotel because of the bad customer service I experienced earlier that day) to ask for an upgrade since I just booked the standard 2 queen room, and they said that I cannot modify my reservation in any way because it was on the same day. Again the lack of flexibility during a global crisis is impermissible. After a long talk, they finally decided to let me upgrade my room with an additional cost of course. I saw in the Hilton Honors app that the upgraded room was only $10 more expensive but the front desk told me I had to pay an additional $50. All I wanted was for them to price match what was on their official app, but my request was denied once again. Being sick of the entire process, I just accepted it because I spent more than two hours trying to get the bare minimum treatment of what a customer should receive. Another complaint is that I asked the front desk to send up a pair of slippers and Beth T. said that the hotel doesnt have any. I think this is unacceptable for a 3-star hotel because every other hotel that Ive been to have had slippers for their guests. That also made my stay uncomfortable. This was my first experience with Hilton Honors and I was looking forward to becoming a loyal member, but this experience was very stressful and unpleasant so I will never stay at a Hilton hotel again.
