  Unfortunate Experience

  Short version (tl;dr) after check in: were told the room we had reserved months ago wasnt available and were given a room half the size; missed by housekeeping; and TVs had parental locks on for only kid-friendly programming. Nothing resolved by management or front desk staff. Weve enjoyed staying here in the past (multiple stays over several years), so a few months ago our family of five had booked a 2 bedroom suite here for a 3 night spring break trip to Minneapolis (Wednesday to Saturday). Reservation was made through the hotels website, not a discount carrier. Went to check in at about 4 pm, signed all the paperwork for a 2 bedroom room, ran credit card, etc. Then we were told that reservations had overbooked that kind of room and there were no 2 bedroom suites available (with the exception of the last night of our stay). Since we were checking in right at check-in time, we can assume they knew we werent going to get the room we reserved at least a day earlier, but never contacted us (we assumed we had been promised a particular kind of room by making a reservation through their website (it even says how many of that kind of room are left!), when they knew they didnt have that room available and were going to give us whatever was left). We were then asked how many beds we actually REALLY needed. Eventually, they found a small one bedroom suite with 2 double beds & a pull out (that was not in great shape), and offered us a discount (the discount was taken off the price of the 2 bedroom suite, and after looking online the price we paid was about the price for the one bedroom suite. So we paid what appeared to be full price for the room they gave us, no discount). Since we were already checked in, there wasnt much of an option. We quickly checked the internet and there was nothing comparable available that day at any other hotels. Manager was busy in a meeting and not available. Suite had a living room that was a bit small for the 5 of us, with a kitchenette and full-size fridge. With three kids and different bedtimes, sleeping was a challenge but we made it work (not well would not recommend a family of 5 in that room even 4 would be a lot. The double beds are close to each other and up against the walls AND the bathroom is connected to the bedroom, not the living room area). That night, the TV locked while we were watching it one of the previous guests added a parental lock for only kid-friendly shows (there had been 34 attempts to unlock it prior to us, so we obviously werent the first guest with this problem). Called the front desk that night, they didnt know how to fix it, but would look into it and let us know (never heard back for the rest of the stay). For the record, we were watching the NCAA tournament when the TV turned the program off, and best we can figure is that the regularly scheduled program was TV-14 and thats what caused it to lock. Second day, no housekeeping (really wished we hadnt ordered take-out the night before). Front desk was apologetic, but had to go down to get towels and they did not offer to collect trash or give us a place to bring it. While checking the room over before checkout, we found a used make up brush that was not ours under the bed that housekeeping must have missed between guests. At time of checkout, the front desk person was surprised things didnt go well and said manager would be in touch. As of now, its been six days, and.. nope. It wasnt all negative the pool & hot tub have to be one of the warmest around, which the kids (and us!) enjoyed. The continental breakfast is basic, with a nice area to eat in. The lounge is also a nice area to hang out and there were often people playing cards there at night. There were multiple TVs there as well (hopefully without child locks, ha). Hotel is in quiet neighborhood (perfect for running and going on walks) & easy access to Mall of America and downtown, plus Target, Cub Foods and restaurants across the street. There are reasons we kept coming back here year after year, but after multiple issues this time around, we are (more than anything) disappointed.

  Perfect location

  This Staybridge is perfect for my work this week. Like the other Staybridge locations they have breakfast and a great short serve dinner on 3 nights per week. Can't beat the room, the meals, the service.

  Definitely going back!

  We loved this hotel! The lobby is lovely and quaint (with water and coffee and a fireplace). The check in experience was very smooth and the staff was friendly and helpful! The room was spacious and clean. The pool and hot tub area had ample towels available. There is a beautiful courtyard to be outside during the warmer months. There is a shuttle offered to many area attractions. We had a very quiet stay and good night of sleep. And the continental breakfast was amazing! There was a large variety and the food was fresh and delicious! The whole experience was delightful and I'll definitely stay here again in the future!

  Awesome Staff

  We had a wonderful experience while staying at the Staybridge. They made us feel welcome and staff was awesome! The front desk staff, housekeeping staff, and social hour staff were all wonderful. They were accommodating when we needed a gluten free pizza baked for my son and checked the labels ingredients for us when we where not sure. The room was clean and comfortable. It was nice having a kitchenette and also having breakfast and dinner available. Having free laundry at the facilities was also helpful for us as we had limited clothing with us due to a house fire.

  Exceptional evening staff !!!!!

  After arriving late at night with a huge amount of luggage , Jason McCray went above and beyond to help me get my room and inform me of all the things the hotel had to offer. His professional knowledge and friendly personality where a welcome change from most of the staff members at other hotels that I have stayed at in the past and with his help i joined the IHG rewards club and will be doing all my future hotel stays with them .
