Tired, but oh, so comfortable! Its getting old. Building is showing the need for some TLC but for all that, the bed was great, the a/c was TOO good, (It was 35c outside when we arrived but the room was at 12c!! We had to leave the door open and go for a walk while it warmed up a bit) Plastic furniture, but clean. Bath was deep and soothing. Staff were friendly and spoke English well. Breakfast was blah! Boil yer own eggs etc. No knives, and asking for some just doubled the number of available spoons. Again, plastic chairs, tables and bread... but as much as you want. Its ok for a one-night-stand.... well, one-night-stopover at least.

Not as good as last timeA group of eleven of us booked this hotel 11 months before arrival, so you would think there would have been no problems awaiting us. Wrong! The receptionist told us that one of us would have to stay one night in one room and the rest of the stay (4 days) in another room. His explanation was that the director had booked in a large group of clients who had special requests. The obvious reason was that they had overbooked and we're trying to wriggle out of the situation by lying. We were also told that we couldn't eat in the restaurant on two of our four night stay because the larger group was having a Gala dinner on both nights. No advance warning was given as to the unavailability of the restaurant. One one day my room was not serviced properly, the bed clothes being just thrown over the bed and one of the bins had no liner in it. The staff appeared rather scruffy and the "Director" had a real attitude problem, especially when he tried to overcharge me by 44 on my extras bill. I stayed at this hotel 1 year ago and it was fine. I suspect it has now changed management, not for the better. I will not be staying there again.

Worn outThe reception desk clerk went out of his way to welcome us in the hotel and the following mornings at breakfast, with genuine warmth. An unusual and a pleasant surprise for this kind of cheap hotel. The hotel itself however, is quite worn out and one can hear every details of the guests next door using the toilets or arguing loudly after drinking too much. This Campanile is clearly beyond its shelf life. To be avoided if possible.

Dreadful communication, dreadful managementI booked this hotel and then immediately decided to cancel and stay at a Campsnile in Saintes. The hotel was contacted twice well before the booking date but still charged me for the night. There has been no communication from them and they have ignored my complaint. Buyer beware, this hotel management is a shambles and I will now have to refer this matter to my credit card company.

Just don't!The worst Campanile we have ever visited. The room felt dirty due to very stained carpets. The first night I actually emailed the hotel around midnight to tell them I wanted to cancel the second night. I could hear someone snoring in the next room like they were laying next to me! We could hear the phone conversation between two people...ohh and the toilet! I personally don't want to hear the neighbours and I don't want them to hear me! The mattresses were old and uncomfortable. I turned mine over but no better. The room we moved to was slightly quieter but the carpet was soaking by the wardrobe so our bags got wet and smelt of fusty carpet. Obviously a bathroom had leaked. If we could have found somewhere better at last minute we would have moved hotel and sacrificed 70. The exterior of the hotel is tatty. A warning if things to come. Bizarrely I am unable to upload photos of the stained and wet carpet!
