  More Motel or student dorm than a Hotel. I am trying to forget the whole experience.

  We usually choose a cheap basic hotel for an overnight stopover where you get what you pay for. Really disappointed with this Campanile and hence I decided to write a review. Room 28 smelt of damp and mould. Complained and was offered room 41, which smelt slightly less unpleasant but with that unmistakable odour you get in an old caravan / shed. Very basic and uninspiring, obviously converted / upgraded with a makeover. However some fundamental problems either with ventilation or condensation of perhaps lack of insulation? No curtains only an external shutter and internal nets with an oversized wooden pelmet and an external door which might account for the odour though lack of ventilation or water ingress. Scuffed poorly maintened paintwork and skirting boards. Dirty fan in bathroom with thick dust needs cleaning. Very small TV didnt fit the hole in the wall panel so wires poked out in all directions. TV didnt line up with the bed so not ideal for watching. Carpet looked dirty and old, the kind you dont feel comfortable on with bare feet. Uncomfortable lumpy bed. Artex ceiling - nice touch. Unfortunately too late in the day / too tired to change hotels. It really grates with me when I am paying money for a really rubbish unpleasant experience. Just want to close my eyes and get the hell out of here Pretty Damn Quick in the morning. Hopefully I can wipe this memory from my brain.

  Dreadful service/Le service insupportable

  Have been staying in Campaniles for 20+ years. Never had such bad service. Arrived at 19.00 after a long drive to be told the restaurant was full. No apology. Was told very rudely that I should have booked. Have never had to do that in any of the Campaniles Ive stayed in before (including this one). Receptionist didnt give a damn. (And this wasnt an anti English thing - I speak fluent French and all of this was conducted in French) Went across the road to the Leclerc cafeteria where the service was impeccable and where staff went out of their way to help, going above and beyond. Rooms supposed to be non-smoking. Someone had been smoking like a chimney in it so stank of stale smoke. Dreadful. Do not come here! There are better quality budget motels close by.

  Our visit to Campanile

  This is the first time I've stayed again in a Campanile for maybe 20 years. The rooms are very good but the restaurant is spartan and expensive in comparison with other restaurants. We loved the bath in the bathroom. A bit on the expensive side for regular travellers like us, the cost soon mounts up. Excellent staff. Entrance drive needs repairs to fill the potholes.

  Shabby

  I'm sorry to say that after spending many nights in various Campaniles up and down the A16/A71 I can only describe my experience at Bourges as disappointing to say the least. The whole site has an air of shabbiness and disrepair about it; all of the bedroom doors that I saw were grubby and marked with scratches; the staircases up to the 1st floor were equally grubby and unmaintained, as were the handrails; the room itself was smaller than usual and the soap dispenser in the bathroom was in a very awkward position. The sign says 'Hotel Renové', that must have been a very long time ago. The staff were very good, and given the circumstances with Covid the meal was fine. When I left in the morning the bureau was closed and there was nowhere to deposit my keycard. There was also no indication in the description that the hotel is so far from the A71. Had I known I would have booked elsewhere This was not value for quite a lot of money for one night and I will think long and hard about Campanile in the future.

  Motel americano de película

  Parece el típico motel americano de película. Para pasar una noche esta bien. Habitación con lo justo y desayuno normal. Tiene aparcamiento en el recinto y el personal es correcto. Ubicado cerca de Bourges, necesitas coche.
