Just beautifulMy wife and I stayed at Amalinda in 1994, and out of interest, I looked it up. Back in '94, it was the most amazing place to stay in, we were there for a few days, enjoyed the lodge tremendously, as well as an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced guide. The highlight for us were visits to old Bushmen sites, with paintings on the rocks, as well as the incredible scenery and wildlife. The Lodge itself was one of a kind, unique and picturesque, and in looking at the Lodge's current website, I recognize a few things that haven't changed - the dining table made from refurbished railway sleepers of what I recall was Rhodesian teak, absolutely beautiful and incredibly heavy. The cabins are also unique, african-styled with thatched roof's and bathrooms built into and around the naturally occurring rocks. Amalinda is a place that's lived on in our memories, and from the look of the current website, it's only improved. Highly recommended.

Short & SweetA one-night stop on the way back from Hwange to Harare in a magically, unique setting. The design and detailing of the construction of the lodge as a whole is very well thought out. There are lots of interesting spaces and the rooms are truly exceptional. Staff were good, although we had heard the service was "exceptional", so we felt slightly let down... Having said that special mention must go to Chef Richard who catered to the special dietary requests and to our guide Kevin who was refreshingly open with some of the historical details. A very well-rounded and knowledgable in all aspects. He was very accommodating to try to ensure we could do a rhino viewing (which we did), as well as see Cecil John Rhodes grave (where we had fantastic sundowners, with tasty meatballs prepared by the lodge). It would have been nice to have a manager on-site, overseeing everything and ensuring everything was as ship-shape (as we'd heard it was). The benefit of the doubt must given due to COVID and perhaps short-staffing, as we've only ever heard good things.

A Magical Place to Unplug and Reconnect with Family and FriendsMy husband, our six-year-old son, and I stayed here for three nights over a long weekend. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time, taking to the trails, hiking, swimming in a fantastically unique pool, exploring caves and ancient paintings...it was wonderful. The Amalinda hospitality team is lovely - they work so well together and treat you like family - from surprise car washes to delicious meals to detailed turndown service and guides full of knowledge. We will be back! The rooms are all well-spaced for natural social distancing; the employees were wearing masks and practiced excellent hand washing/sanitizing; and they took our temperatures upon arrival. The dining times were staggered and spaced apart physically, too.

A memorable night in MatoposWe thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at Amalinda...only wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the stunning pool! Thankfully the game drive vehicle was well equipped for chilly rainy weather and super comfy.. As was our room!!! We were so thankful to be able to snuggle into our preheated bed after dinner. Food was tasty and service was great. Would love to return one day.
