    Mediocore hotel but great location

The hotel we usually stay in on Lake Garda was booked for our dates, so we had to choose another one. We picked Caminetto because the rooms from the brochure looked decent, the price was decent, and the location was super. It is located right where you enter Torbole on a street just off the roundabout. You can see it as you descend the hill from Nago. There isn't much space for parking; 3 tiny spaces out front and a garage below. We couldn't get into the garage when we got there because it was full. Lucky for us, there was a spot to cram our car into out front. We parked it there and never moved it again until we left Torbole. We could walk everywhere we needed to go; lakefront, Coop grocery, restaurants, and plenty of shops. We were in Torbole to ride our bikes, so we started our rides from the hotel. The only person that spoke english was a man that seemed to only work in the mornings. Not overly friendly, but checked us out of our room willingly when I had to hunt him down from his kitchen duties. We had requested a room on the top floor and received it. Typical small room with 2 twin beds pushed together, small desk, chair, bedside tables, safe, area to hang clothes, and a small flatscreen tv mounted high up on the wall w/remote. Adequate bathroom with moderate lighting, usual Italian tiny shower, and a large sink. Nice feature was the wall facing the outside of the bldg composed of 3 large glass doors that each opened up to the faux balcony. I noticed the 2nd floor rooms had balconies which were actually large enough to use with chairs. 3rd floor balconies are more for decoration from the outside. These doors allowed alot of light to enter the room and you could look past the hotel out the windows to the tops of the mountains towering above. The windows do look right at the next hotel, but we weren't in the room much, so it didn't bother us. The bed was very uncomfortable, hard, and small. And the wall butted up next to the bathroom next door, so we could hear our neighbor in the bathroom. But our earplugs, which we always travel with, helped get us through those episodes. The hotel was slightly "tired" looking inside, even though it was allegedly remodeled in 2004. There is one small elevator, which is pretty slow. You can't be in a hurry. The morning breakfast did not start until 8am. It was composed of the typical Italian breakfast of hard rolls, thin sliced meats, cheese, fruit, and a choice of some cereals, milk, juice, and coffee. We don't enjoy these type breakfasts. But that's all you're going to get in a hotel like this in Italy. We chose the hotel for the location primarily, so it did not fail us in that regard. The only reason we'd stay here again is if we can't get into the place we usually stay. I'm keeping that little gem a secret. For Torbole and Riva del Garda, we think it's best to get an apartment if you can. You can fix the type meals you like, and have the option to eat a meal at the place your staying if you don't want to cook. It's a very cost saving feature in my opinion. We normally go to Torbole in late Sept, Oct, or early May which is a less crowded time. This time we were there for the first week of September, and it was much too crowded for our taste. We probably will not go back again during high season, or even mid season. It's a different experience if you go during low season.

    It's a good place

Hotel Caminetto at Torbole, I booked for a week, a single room during eastern time the rooms are really comfortable, and clean, good variety during the breakfast. Just some points to have in mind. - there is just internet on the lobby, no wifi in the rooms - Even though there is always someone to attend you in the reception, it is regular that person is busy in some other parts of the hotel, so you have to wait a couple of minutes before arrives and solve your troubles. - if u have a light sleep, stay away from the north side of the hotel, unfortunatelly there is an open air bar next to the hotel and has music until midnight almost every night.

    Nice place, but be prepared

If you are going to Torbole, you probably already know: Torbole is not big, There are many small hotels here and there, and Caminetto is in the very center. The lake is 2 min by walk, the supermarket is across the road as well as the bus stop, the windsurfing school (Vasco Renna) is 1 min by walk, and the restaurants and bars are around you. Enjoy your vacation! However, there is something you have to know about (see also a separate discussion). The nearest bar is 10m from the hotel, the bar team prefers very loud music, and the loudspeakers are too close to your window to ignore it. Music (techno?) usually starts after 5pm and stops after midnight (best case), so that ask the hotel personnel to help you in advance if you would like to sleep normally. No chance to fix it somehow else without special earplugs. Ask me for details if required. The rest was Okay. My single room was big enough and clean, the bathroom was even bigger (?!). There was also a small safe, a small working desk near the window, and - important - a good quality and very stable wired Internet connection. The cable was available on request, and this was great for me as I am almost always traveling with my notebook. The breakfast was not fantastic, but good enough, fresh and properly served. You will not be hungry. All in all, a good and well managed family hotel in the right place. Absolutely enough for 1 week staying.
