Five wonderful days here! Here's what we loved about the hotel: a) We requested a quiet room when we booked on-line, and we got one. No internal or external noise on the 6th floor. It was so peaceful! b) Self-service laundry that is coin-operated and easy to operate. Cheap, too! It came at just the right time of our three week trip to Taiwan. c) Samantha, who I am assuming is a day weekday manager, went out of her way to make sure we had some vegetarian restaurant options for two of our nights. d) The daytime door/elevator guy who helped us with so many front doors and elevators welcomed us with a smile and his eyes, creating a warm atmosphere when we entered and left the hotel. He also showed us how to operate the air-con (directions in Chinese only) our first night arrival. Plus, on our last day, a gentlemen was trying to clean the carpets upstairs in the breakfast, only to find that we wanted a coffee and tea. He patiently helped us work the espresso maker, a true saint! e) Wifi worked throughout the hotel without a glitch. f) Breakfast offered a good many vegetarian options, although it was a bit on the Taiwanese side of food. Delicious pineapple each morning! The best I maybe have ever had at a hotel! g) Nice hot water pressure in the shower each morning. h) Location, location, location. One of us is a senior who tires easily after walking in the sun. Having quick access to our hotel from the myriad of attractions nearby was essential. Next to the quiet room, it probably was our favorite aspect of the hotel. Room for improvement: a) Eggs made in the "Live Cooking" part of the dining area are cold as they sit there on a plate. Is there a way to keep them warm? b) Some of the front desk staff aren't very warm and welcoming. This customer service downfall I've noticed throughout our stay in Taiwan. They are more engaged in paperwork than making you feel welcomed. Visit, for example, most Vietnamese hotels in Vietnam, and you will encounter an entirely different customer service culture. c) I found the strict no-refund policy for our room unnecessary. The price difference between free cancellation and no cancellation was vast. I don't mind a slight price differential, but ... in this case ... it was quite a gap. Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat!

Excellent value three-star hotelStayed for five days. Location is excellent as it is between the railway ( not the HSR) and the city centre, and the two tourist bus stops - 99 to Anping and & 88 to Annan- are just down the block. It is close to Datong Market - but watch the alternate opening days. There are plenty of eating options around too. The hotel has a multi-lingual staff, who are efficient and friendly. We shared a double/ double room, which was roomy, well-furnished, comfortable and clean. The breakfast is very Chinese, but has lots of variety.

Clean, kind and comfortableThis hotel is located near the train station. It's about 20 minutes walk 5 minute taxi. Rooms are clean and well-thought-of. That breakfast is great. Front desk service is very good. Their breakfast servers were more concerned about their own breakfast than attending their duty.

Excellent value three hotelValue for money. Good excellent service. Hotel were ideal located nearby city center, abit old fashion as it used nomal door key to hotel room, room were clean, morning breakfast were quite standard on the 11th floor, ok for me and mainly catered to local. Their Taiwanese porridge is good.

Reception staff lack of security a concernThis hotel is well located, with easy access to public transport and restaurants. There are no in-room safes so valuables have to be left in safes downstairs. I wanted to leave my laptop in a safe whilst out. The receptionist said it wouldnt fit in a safe so it would be left in the open but I was told its ok because there is always someone on reception. I was shocked at this. I asked that they at a least try to get it in a safe and it did fit. I also noticed when guests had checked out and left luggage with reception that their luggage was simply left sitting in the lobby area. This hotel is on a very busy street with hundreds of people walking past the front doors every hour. It would be very simple for a theif to jump into the reception area and take a bag without reception even knowing. I was worried about their lax attitude toward security of guests belongning. The buffet breakfast was ok, nothing flash, catering to Asian breakfast with limited Western options - toast being it. One day I returned to my room at 11am and the maid had taken away the dirty linen but hadnt made up the room. I then returned at 1pm expecting the room to have been serviced and it wasnt. I left again and returned at 3:30pm - to my surprise the room still hadnt been serviced. I found the maid servicing another room and told her I will take the clean linen and service my room myself as I wanted to lie down and do some reading. She then hastily serviced my room. Very annoying that my room was not useable from 11am to 330pm.
