    Wonderful holiday in difficult times

With the corona pandemic causing so many travel problems, we had serious reservations about going ahead with the holiday. Im so glad we did though. This resort really is 5 star and proved to be the refreshing tonic we needed. The resort has handled the pandemic with excellence, we felt safe at all times. There was hand sanitizer everywhere and the staff wear masks and PPE at all times. The resort is kept immaculate and the staff are diligent in their cleaning duties and are not shy to remind those that try to flout the safe distance rules. Typical Brits would move the sun beds to fill gaps near the pool and staff would tell them to move them back to 2 meters Safe distance spacing. Our room was gleaming, the bed extremely comfortable and I cant recommend the swim up pool option enough. The staff are friendly and cant do enough for you, the TUI reps are incredibly helpful and check on you daily. There was a live show every evening at 9pm. The local town of Gerani has lots of shops and eateries and make sure you squeeze in a trip to Chania (20 euros each way in a taxi) its a wonderful town rammed with shops and things to see and the sunset in the harbour is exquisite. The one and only down-tick I can give is the beach. Its quite stoney and not suitable for flip flops!.. take a sturdy pair of beach shoes. This was a fantastic holiday, much needed in these difficult pandemic times.

Beautiful Place great escape in covid times

We visited Tui Blue August 11th 2020 for one week. Pros We had a private swim up room which was fantastic the room was clean and very well maintained. We were given little welcome packs with hand sanitiser, gloves and a mask each. The hotel was set on beautiful grounds right on the beach. They sprayed the sunbeds daily and tagged them so you knew what ones were sanitised. The tui reps were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. We had a five year old with us and they really made her holiday. Especially Hans,Emilia and Hannah. They also had loads going on for the kids. They had captain T the dog, Bamse the bear and two clowns called coco and Charlie. The kids club was open but she didn't attend. Although they were doing loads with the kids like arts and craft. They had lots of games daily by the pool. We won a coveted tui blue beach bag. Also the usual water aerobics and then a game then show every evening in the open air ampi theatre. The town was 2 mins away by taxi so we went there nightly 7 euros each way. The food we out out was amazing. We even had a curry and a Chinese. We came back for the show and disco. There was also a lovely Greek restaurant within walking distance and a lidl up the road. Considering the covid issues it was an amazing holiday. Cons The sister Hotel was shut, as were the second pools etc. The mini golf was closed and was the children's playground. You had to wear a mask and gloves to collect food from the buffet. So everytime you entered. Mask on gloves on..plastic gloves and sweaty hands not the easiest. The cakes and fruit etc were as you would expect however the hot food was a shambles. Never really hot and not much choice. The kids food wasn't great either. My daughter mostly ate fish fingers and pasta or toast and cereal. However I think so many people complained it did get better through out our stay. We just had breakfast and lunch then ate out in the evening. U could book the taverna in the hotel and the food was supposed to be better there. But it was difficult to book. Allow 3 days. The sun beds were starting to become an issue as the hotel filled up. They were spaced to meet covid standards but a few large parties started to collect them and move them. The hotel staff kicked them off.

    Fantastic last minute break

We booked last minute with another family, departed middle of August 20, there were 4 adults and 5 kids in total. We all had a fantastic week away. Despite concerns about travelling during a pandemic the hotel which was immaculately clean and the staff helped put us at ease. As a family of 5 with 3 children I booked 2 family rooms and wrote in advance to request that our rooms be next door and was extremely pleased to be upgraded and next door to our friends. The hotel was quiet but plenty going on to keep the kids busy and staff worked incredibly hard to maintain a fun programme. The food which was expectedly limited due to lower number of guests was delicious and service was great. The only (minor) issue was that our room was located across a small road and away from the one open pool bar so getting drinks was a bit of an effort but we managed to adapt a bathroom childs step into a tray and problem solved! We ate out twice once in Gerani and Platanias, also travelled to the water park via the little train that departed near to the hotel, it was great to head out and experience Crete, also important to support local businesses.

Lovely location, shame the hotel closed

We booked last minute to stay at this hotel after our original holiday to Cyprus got cancelled. Pros Lovely location, friendly staff, TUI Blue reps were lovely. My son loved the entertainment. Especially the acrobats (he's still goinging on now about them). Sunbeds were sanitised each evening and tagged ready for the next day. Welcome pack in the room with sanitisers, gloves and masks. Rooms were clean and tidy. We were given a swim up room with a beautiful view of the pool and sea. Couldn't complain about the food. Nice selection most nights. Food in the Taverna restaurant was beautiful. Suned spaced out nicely. Cons Rooms were tired and in need of some tlc. Sunbeds should have been sanitised half way through they day as a few times we had been out and couldn't use a sunbed because they weren't re-sanitised and the hotel wouldn't swap them with the ones which were sanitised and sticked up down the side. Shame the sister hotel was closed along with the pool but can understand why. Spa treatments were reasonably priced. My son loved his chocolate massage. Could have done with another bar open as the distance to and from the entertainment wasn't great. Onside shop, and snack bar weren't open. Overall it was a shame the hotel closed half way through our 2 week holiday.
