Ok but nothing special. We spent two nights here. I think we expected more and were a little underwhelmed. It is basically a Very expensive bed and breakfast. Breakfast was good. The evening meal on offer was very expensive so we declined. Ive had mosquito bites before but never had as many as I got here. Only sat outside for half an hour one evening and got bitten to death. They were huge bites and lasted well over two weeks. If you like remote locations then this is the place for you. Not really our cup of tea.

Lovely SpotOur hosts were hospitable and engaging. We enjoyed their company as much as the beautiful oasis they have created. Each nook and cranny of the lodge and grounds held a unique treasure. Delightful and tasty meals, personalized service, restful sleep, peaceful environment all contributed to a charming ending to our NZ holiday.

Felt like familyFrom the greeting as the gates opened to the smiles as they closed we felt like family. Petra and Reinhard treated us like royalty. The landscaping is incredible, the different types of vegetation was out of a fairy tale book. Trees that have stood for over 300 years and the springs the feed the brook are amazing. The outdoor tub and sauna surrounded by the beautiful trees. The glow worms that light up in the forest at night. You have to try the dinner cooked by Reinhard. The beef was so tender it melted in ones mouth. I wish them both happiness.

A remore but wonderful place to stay for a relaxing break.Petra & Reinhard have created a wonderful and quite diverse establishment and I have never visited such a unique place to stay in. It's one of a kind and probably better to think of it as a high quality and well thought out bed & breakfast rather than a Lodge. That is not being unkind as this is not a hotel, there are only three bedrooms and there are not all the creature comforts of an high quality hotel. That said it is in a wonderful location and the hosts are lovely people who are the most gracious hosts and fully attentive to your needs, We were there for two nights and had the most relaxing time. We were the only guests on the first night when we had the evening meal there as we had decided we would have one meal in and one meal out. With hindsight it might have been better if we had the meal on the second night as there were more guests that night. The dinner was perfectly cooked and it was interesting to eat different foods which I would probably never eat again. There is an extensive wine list to chose from but, prefering beer, I found they had some good beer choices too !!! You don't get a full English breakfast here but why would you? We had the Black Forest breakfast which comes to you in its own small frying pan. There was also a wonderful selection of breads and home made jams The firefiles are indeed a highlight and a "must do" . It is also worthwhile looking at the night sky as the lodge is an area where it is quite dark with few lights so it makes stargazing perfect. It was interesting to hear bout and see the siberian cats in their cages and to marvel at the wonderful home made glass creations Reinhard makes. The room was of a reasonably large size with a small lounge area overlooking the large and very green back area with the "bath" and the pond. The bathroom is also in a seperate area and had wonderful handmade glass his and hers basins. Unsurprisingly there is no airconditioning but there is a heater/cooler which one can use but we didn't really need it even though it was pleasantly warm whilst we were there. We went here in February the year before and had a wonderful time in this really fantastic part of New Zealand and it is only now that I have realised I have not done a review !!! A walk to Wentworth Falls is also a "must do" but it took a bit longer than I thought it would however the views of the falls when you finally get there are well worth it. Thanks you Petra & Reinhard

Perfect place to wind down!A perfect place to unwind after our long flight. Petra and Reinhard couldnt do enough to make us feel more at home. Stunning grounds.... not forgetting Bushland's very own glow-worms! Excellent traditional German breakfasts cooked by Petra and cordon bleu evening meal cooked by Reinhard. Thoroughly recommend.
