No!

Burlington revisitedI have been to this hotel frequently over the past years. I have had several rooms to test from. 42 was my best number, followed by 85 and the room 92 on level 9 The higher you go in the building the more issues you have on temperature, in the summer it is pretty hot up there, and in the winter period the water in the heatingpipes seems to have issues to get all the way up. The rooms are quite well, nicely finished in the same hotel style and gives an overall clean view of the room. Cleaning services are doing there job excellently. Everything is spot clean and now in covid times even more so. Alcogels on every level from entrance till in your own room. However some technical things could be better, for instance on two occasions I had the handle in the bathroom where you can grip yourself to when getting or out of the bath slightly sitting loose. When cleaning passes by they should notice that and inform the technical staff so it can be dealt with. In my last room the shower head was wrongly mounted in its resting fitting (upside down). In another room it always fell down well showering. So whoever does or did the plumbing installation is not a good one. But that is a minor thing. Another in my last room 85 was the little dryrack hanging of the radiator which was damaged as well as the fridge door rim inside the door, which should keep the bottles up in the door, was broken. A thorough room check should help mend such minor issues be fixed in time and even charge them to however broke them. Also the shower doors, hang over the bath or showerfloor, with the result that often the entire floor gets soaked. A simple rim to prevent the door from going further then necessary would prevent that, and would makes things more hygienic. Burlington always offers you soap towels for the bathroom and it is always plenty. As to the layout of the building I am guessing only the rooms ending on numbers 5 or 6 will give you a view on the marina. All others are turned towards the Kappellestraat or inwards with no view. If you want a view you know which ones to ask for, if you want peace and quiet do not take the view sides. Cause like in my case I was happy to have the view but since it was so hot even just now in September I was forced to leave the window open the entire night, and thus got woken up by sirens of emergency services, waste collecting trucks and busses very early in the morning. Besides all being very good, and value for money, I do not understand what the point is to create a bed that is A far to high for most people to crawl into my feet did not reach the floor when hanging over it and I am 1.85m tall, nor do I see the sense of having a bed if even for one person, with a foot end in a square at the end, that in such totally messes up the beautiful view you can have directly from your bed. It is even annoying when you look at the television set too. Plus the little board which would have been useful next to the bed is located at your footend and that is where the hotel phone is located, on a very short line, so you cannot even put it close to you These are simple ergonomic tips that hotelmanagement should take more appreciation for. Burlington management is very square in their doing and thinking. When you have for instance any issue with any room, they will give you a voucher for a next trip. I feel they should immediately give you a reduction on the price if you incur any issues with them. It is not fun sleeping in a room where radiator pipes keep making tremendous noise on one hand and at the other hand youre having cold to sit in it so make the thing work immediately or pay back your customer partially is a commercially preferred method of dealing with it. Now as it is done, Burlington Hotels are using a messed up situation to force a customer to come back if you want some compensation for a bad situation. This shows the interest lies not in doing the best of the best for the customer but rather making sure you get money out of each customer more then once. If you make sure your hotel is actually completely perfect, any customer will make other reviews than this one, and will advertise your reputation gladly and freely, and it will also generate extra business. That is the one thing management is too stubborn to see. As to the breakfast then, it is plentyfull and good always. Even now in covid times all is very good, and the little lady who makes sure you get seated, cleans up the tables for you in best desinfective ways. So no issues there. But I have a big issue with how you need to get your stuff over to your table. No serving trays are provided, no you must go back and forth like ten times if you want a good breakfast on your table, the dishes are very small in size and you can hardly transport two pieces of bread on them, then you need to run back and forth to collect your marmalade, honey, butter cheese, or yoghourt, your milk or tea or coffee, your orange juice just because you have no serving tray It is really a total nuisance that way I want to do my serving run in ONE go and be seated and eat and not make a sports tour out of it. I want to wake up slowly and gently and doing morning sports activity does not come into that. The result of people having to do this now for covid is that instead of remaining seated every one is running around spreading the virus even more, and also some have spillage on the floor of for instance orange juice. I then stepped onto such spillage of somebody else and almost fell. Nomatter that I had to inform the staff of it they said that it was more important first get the new guests seated than cleaning it up NO! IT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO CLEAN UP YOUR MESSY FLOOR before someone trips over it and falls If an elderly person trips and falls it could mean the end of his stay with your hotel SAFETY COMES ALWAYS FIRST !!!! I already told the reception clark and the management of Burlington that a serving tray would be preferred to their present system, they replied: it does not fit in to their concept Well running around with a dozen of people several times, during covid season, does not fit the concept of the public health of people either I hope Burlington Management is going to severely think over their ways. They are as far as I know in all the places where I have had breakfast the only hotel where the concept of collecting your breakfast is set up in this way IT DOES NOT WORK and is very ANNOYING. Besides that the hotel is a very well located area, close to the station downside: if you come by car it is almost impossible to find a parking spot nearby that is non paying, and it will grow worse with the new construction site being busy building huge city towers to come. Why does Burlington at least not arrange with the city of Ostend to have a loading and offloading area near the hotel, so you can at least bring your stuff inside and outside in an easy manner without having to scour through half the area with whatever you travel with ? Last time I had quite some material with me which I do not want to leave in the car, thus I had to do four trips back and forth bringing everything in. I can assure you if you had a full business day driving 300 Km that is NOT what you want to do when you want to get into your room. Nor when you have to leave after a good shower for instance, and be all sweaty from dragging everything back out My time is precious. So in all I give a rating of 7/10 for this hotel. They have all the possibility of making it a perfect 10 but are simply too stubborn to do better. And this is a review that spreads now over many years.

for me never againNever again this hotel because of 1 person, Ellen. Worthless and conceited person. She threatened to call in the police for forgetting my mouthmaster to go to breakfast. After which I demanded my money and wanted to leave this hotel. Unfortunately that was not possible after which we had a fierce discussion. I still held back because other holes were. We were anyway surprised that the mouthmaster was mandatory in Belgium, at incheken she made that clear and gave me one. But the 2nd time was escalating. Ridiculous, how those stupid Belgians (not all) deal with it, especially to tourists.
