  Very bizarre hotel!

  We stayed here for 1 night and arrived at 2.30pm to check in (website states check in available from 2pm) and told room would be another 45mins (no reason given). So we waited in the lounge for another 45mins, during this time a young lad emerges from the back of the restaurant (appeared to be staff/family) with no shirt on just strutting around. The room itself looked very modern and clean, but the bathroom was something from the 1960s and the shower leaked despite the shower screen pulled into the bathroom. Every time you left the bedroom and entered the hallway you were immediately hit with a strong smell of weed/pot. The morning of departure we arrived at breakfast at 8.15am (told breakfast was between 8-9.15am) and not a soul in sight (other than another guest also looking for breakfast). We rang the bell twice, no answer. We checked out at 8.25 with no breakfast and still no member of staff (but now a room full of guests waiting for breakfast). I left a note and explained wed checked out as had 16miles to walk that day and didnt expect to be charged breakfast. We were. No apology phone call, nothing. I had to phone them and ask for an explanation (which was incredibly lame and still not so much as an apology) The owner begrudgingly agreed to a £10 refund for breakfast! I have no idea whats being run here, but Im not certain its a B&B! I had to check the previous reviews as cant believe this is the same place!

  Nice enough stay though a touch pricey.

  Pleasant enough stay for one night, just under a hunded quid though so not cheap, breakfast was included, but only available between 08:00 and 09:15 so a small time window, up till 10am would have been nice.Rooms adequate, good shower and comfy bed with plenty of tea and coffee options, though rooms could do with a bit of t.l.c, toilet roll holder was hanging on for dear life! (Could've done without the builders starting work opposite at 8am too)

  Disappointing

  I always check the reviews before booking and 99% were good. so I booked two nights . Hosts were un-attentive (only seen on arrival, breakfast and departure). Asked us to pre-book breakfast but then forgot our order, even after we gave it again at the breakfast table. Second morning not as requested e.g. hard boiled eggs were soft boiled. Only one bedside table, bathroom needed updating and repair. Mattress very hard and bed creaked every time you moved. On departure owner stated money already taken from payment card and no invoice/receipt provided. It was like they were doing the absolute minimum as hosts of the establishment. We did not want to be crowded by the hosts, but a bit more effort would not have gone a miss. We could see the sea in the distance from our room which was nice and the tea/coffee and biscuits facilities in the room were good. It was within walking distance of the town centre and we could get to a variety of beaches, so location wise it was good.

  Short stay

  After visiting the Bude Haven guest house last year, I decided to book again for this year. I was very surprised to see some of the negative comments. We had a wonderful stay at the this family run guest house. The owners were tentative to our needs and extremely friendly. The breakfast was always delicious and served exactly how we asked. The room was incredibly clean and had those special little touches. We are already looking forward to returning again!

  The highlight of 2020

  Finally got round to writing a review, we stayed here in august and our family loved it. We had a family room which was perfect, comfy beds,clean bathroom, coffee machine which was a lovely touch and replenised daily....kids loved the hot chocolate. Breakfasts were lovely exactly how we asked for. It is a family run guest house, and they where all lovely, very helpful with info on the town and places to go. Was made to feel really comfortable. As i understand it they took over the guest house shortly before the lockdown, i for one wish them the very best of luck, and am definately going this summer.
