  Shocking

  A very poor stay that did not give value for money. The queen sized bed is actually a four foot bed. The takeaway breakfast was a joke.(see photo). No one at reception when collecting keys. Phone numbers for the unmanned reception were not answered. Tried again half an hour later - same result. INCREDIBLY....office was unlocked so keys could just be taken by anyone!!! No refund offered. Avoid!

  Beautiful place to celebrate my birthday

  Me and my family of 5 stayed for 1 night at the red lion on 5th september. The hotel is stunning! Such rich history and we were welcomed to walk around the entire building to take photos. We were shown the tudor room too. Angela was amazing and looked after us well. The food was superb! We didnt see any ghosts but hey ho! Lovely and clean and so much character. Would stay again for definate

  Loved it!

  Would definitely recommend a night or two here! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, my room was the prettiest room Ive ever stayed in. Clean and tidy, helpful staff and the location is great for the castle, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants. The staff are doing really well managing to make such an old building Covid safe. So glad I came to visit.

  Feeling the history

  Just for a night i stayed here. Through the amazing flowered corridor i reached the enterance. What i found here is a history. Over 600 years building. You can feel this, every step also by squeaks under your feet but no worries i really like this. Every body was very polite and smiling. You can see hospitality even behind the masks on these Covid-19 days.

  Saturday night away

  First of all I want to say a very big thankyou to Angela who originally booked our stay and to the lady who checked us in....lovely people indeed, so polite and nice :) xxx. Our stay was beautiful, we adore old buildings and history and to stay in a old Tudor building (Hotel) was fantastic. Cosy room, lovely bed....and lovely breakfast in the morning. When we checked out , Angela had the time to tell us about all the history etc which was fantastic:). Angela keep doing what you're doing, it shows so much you love the building and proud to work there and love its history. I cannot say anymore, beautiful town with nice shops to go around in the day and in the evening we found some nice restaurants/ takeaways a walk down the road whilst the restaurant was closed as wedding on. Angela, keep Alice happy and we will be back.....thank you so much again for a lovely stay in a gorgeous building....you all keeping it lovely. And to anyone who is coming out with horrible comments and saying the building is disgusting....go toapremiere inn etc where insure you'll moan about something there as well. Love Clark and Lois x
