    Expensive View

I booked the penthouse suite for 2 nights as a late birthday gift to my husband. We stayed over New year's eve so the cost was high. Too high for what we got. Admittedly you are paying for the view over the grand harbour and the hot tub to sit and admire that view. We were very happy with that part. What I didn't expect was having to use an open loo 2 feet away from my sleeping husband. Maybe I didn't check the details? Continental breakfast for us was a bit of a disappointment with the coffee machine being broken, hot water not hot & general lack of items available. Tables were not set or all too clean. Perhaps because it was New year's day? That would explain the lounge area in the hotel holding a full table of empty glasses & general mess for the whole day. Oh & the bar downstairs was never even open. We had to ask for our tea & coffee making supplies to be replenished as the cleaner failed to do this. The receptionist did this reluctantly after my husband stated the fact that we had paid a hell of a lot of money for supposedly the best room in the hotel. The location is excellent being right next to Upper barrakka gardens and half way up the beautiful Ursula steps. Although we enjoyed our stay (mainly due to location and view) we will not return. If I were to make suggestions for improvements it would be to provide guests in suites with a complimentary bottle of wine & maybe snacks, have staff show guests to their room and advise them of bar closure.

    A somewhat conflicted stay....for 6 nights.

Originally booked through Expedia....i notified the Hotel that my wife had had recent leg surgery,so we would prefer something on a lower floor, with fewer steps. The entire building is a maze, steps up,steps down and then...a steep flight down to the room, with another steep flight down to the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom was in the crypt,no natural light and well below street level. We complained, but were told there were no alternatives available. After 3 nights in the crypt, with my wife on the upstairs sofa, which they made up for her to sleep on,we were offered 2 nights in an ocean front room, but had to return to the crypt for the 6th night. The 2 nights in the Ocean view room were lovely and were appreciated, but we could not return to the crypt for the 6th night. The Management were very honorable and let us cancel the 6th night without penalty. Nice place, nice and helpful staff, great location and nice views......just don't book a room in the crypt. When i booked,i was told there were no view rooms available, hence the crypt. Always ask for a view room!!

    superb views

A lovely stay for 2 nights at the British suites. Superb room (upgraded ) with an amazingly interesting view over the harbour. Clean and well appointed. Reception staff very helpful but restaurant staff less so especially when I tried to get some ice! Breakfast continental but possible to pay more for cooked options. Plenty of variety in the cold buffet so quite adequate. Would recommend for a short stay as very convenient location.

    Dissapointment

We stayed at the penthouse suite for 2 nights. The room was very low standard. There was a small bathroom right next to the bed not soundproof. On the other hand the view to the three cities is amazing. The jacuzzi needs at least 1 hour to be heated. The staff is friendly. The safe was not functioning among other things but there was not maintenance service at the moment.

Great Room with an Outstanding View of Birgu

Spacious room with a kitchen. Plenty of room to spread out. A beautiful view of Fort St. Angelo & Birgu out the window. The best part was the A/C. We visited in August and it was HOT outside. We would come back to turn the A/C back on & cool off. Very much appreciated. One thing to note: If you are bringing a large bag (we had scuba gear for two) be aware there are a lot of stairs. Depending on which room you get, there are some elevators for the upper floors, but you need to climb many smaller stairs before they can be used.
